Why do I sometimes get the feeling that I should be able to throw my malachite ball at things and it should bounce off, like rubber?

Weird,

I understand exactly what you are saying, but I can't figure out why. I don't have a ball of Malachite, just a large nodule.
Malachite is hard, and dense and heavy, but the surface is soft and somehow rubbery. Part of that might have to do with the patterns resembling something about rubber maybe? :hmmmmm:

It's not to do with the surface

It's just a weird feeling... as if it has another 'mode' of operation, which I should somehow be able to activate

It may well have another mode of activation but I would highly suggest you resist all urges to bounce it off objects :hutone:

but if you throw it hard enough. you will get lots of little pieces. it's a hard stone but not that strong. i have had a few pieces break on me.

Depending on the size of it I would be more concerned about the other objects it was being bounced off of :)

they dropped on the floor. I have a pewter dragon that was using a malachite egg as divination device. so one day it dropped on the floor and the egg came off and split in two.

Aww bless him! Did you know dragons don't wee? If you get turned into one you have to figure out how to transmute it rather quickly!

Oh btw when I figure out how to make the ball bounce I will let you all know! ;)
