I am reading the book by Pema Chodron, 'The Places that Scare You'. In one part of the book (okay, in a lot of the book), she mentions labeling the thoughts that are brought up by the negative feelings and throwing them away, then staying with the negative feelings.
Has anyone practiced this? I know this will be a strange thing to say, but I've found in doing this that the feeling themselves don't tend to stick around very long at all, nor are they anywhere as intense as they are when I have those thoughts attached to them. I feel like I am doing this practice wrong.
Any thoughts?
