So I bought the Faery Wicca Tarot last night. Mind you, I'm not Wiccan, and to be honest, what little of Kisma Stepanich I've read left a very bad taste in my mouth but... I've been oddly drawn to this deck for years, and have resisted that draw until yesterday. Got the deck home, opened it up, and I'm in love... Clear readings, deep meanings, though what I'm seeing doesn't always agree with the book that came with it... Ever had that happen? Fallen in love with a deck by an author you don't really like?

Yes I have had that happen.
I had the same experience with the Faery Wicca deck, and eventually I set it aside in favor of other decks. Now I've used in in a few home decorating tasks since.
Right now I'm very pleased with the readings I get from the Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards - by Doreen Virtue. I don't like her books, and feel she's something.. well we won't go there. And the deck isn't something that would usually be used by me - I bought it for the art - but I find that its a useful set.

I have the Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards as well, and like them. Doreen Virtue... not so much. I find her a tad on the flaky side... and that's being nice.

Well I"m interested in the Home Decorating things you did with that Fairy Wicca Deck. What did you do? Share please, here or in the Arts and Crafts area.
I had a really bad knee jerk reaction to the OSHA Zen cards. I resisted those for a year and finally bought them. Just loved them once I got them home. Clear readings, accurate. Wonderful in fact.

I'm not a fan of DJ Conway, and didn't enj0y the first 2 decks that she and Lisa Hunt did together, but I do like the Animals Divine quite alot. I have the Fantastical Creatures, but haven't had the opportunity to work with it yet.
The Shapeshifter & Celtic Dragon both have the Swords = Fire and Wands = Air associations, which was why I chose not to work with them. Not because they aren't pretty.
But, DJ Conways books I've found to be... lacking. ;)

My husband likes the Celtic Dragon Tarot, though he doesn't actually read with it. He just really likes dragons. I've never liked either of those decks. The Shapeshifter, which I have, was one of those "What the heck???" sort of decks for me.

oooooooooo I love Sword=fire.
Muh! I know you guys hate that, but I started with those decks, so sword air just doesn't get it for me.

 I started with Sword=Air, so the other way throws me completely. However, I know several Wiccans whose traditions teach that Wands=Air, Swords=Fire with the altar tools, and so they find that association easier to work with in Tarot.

I've had the opposite happen to me. I adore Robin Wood's When, Why, If.... It's one of my favorite Pagan books of all ever. But I cannot stomach the Robin Wood Tarot. I find it to be among the most insipid pieces of outdated tripe I've ever encountered. Every time I see it, or even pictures of it, I roll my eyes and gag a little inside.

I LOOOOOVE the Sacred Circle deck - HATE the book. With a passion. Find it difficult to read with as a result. But the deck is gorgeous...

I LOVE all my Oracle cards by Doreen Virtue, especially her Goddess Guidance and Messages from your Angels. They're so accurate, and I absolutely adore them :D Though I'm not too keen on the author herself.

I suspect I'd like the Shapeshifter Tarot more if I hadn't first encountered art by Susan Seddon Boulet. Boulet does (or rather did, as she died in 1997) that kind of art so much better.
One thing about those decks is that while I'm generally open about what gets labeled Tarot, all of Lisa Hunt's decks seem to fit more in the oracle category....I like them, but can't get them to be tarot in my mind. Usually I'm open, anything goes, but her decks just don't work that well in that respect....

Robin Wood is the first and only deck I have so far. I got it because it was similar to the R-W ones, without being R-W (which I don't like) and I thought this would make it easier to learn from them.
I don't really like the images that much either now that I've had them for some time. I don't have such a strong reaction as you though
I'm thinking of buying a deck I really like visually...

The Llewellyn is the first deck that uses a lot of the R-W imagery in a way that I can actually appreciate - and I love the deck. Normally I have to fight the urge to roll my eyes at the images on an R-W.
though... usually its because of the colors as much as anything.
You might want to check out the Llewellyn, Agaliha.

Maybe that's why I have trouble reading some tarot decks..The Swords = Fire and Wands = Air associations could be what's throwing me off.
I have the Celtic Dragon Tarot deck as well and I hardly use it because every time I do a reading with them I get confusing answers. I like the deck, the artwork is pretty.. It's just that I feel I don't receive a clear answer...
I shall do an experiment.
