Cameron just threw up all of his dinner bottle, beans and peaches. I know it was all cuz he was left dry heaving, gagging and crying. My husband, unfortunately, was holding him at the time....had to change his clothes.

Can he really get the stomach flu only a month after the last time? Or did his food disagree with him (day 2 of beans)?

I'm praying I don't have another week of puke and poop to go through.....

I think I read that you do 3 days of a food and a few days off because it doesn't always develop right away.

Well, he woke up at 5:30 this morning completely soaked in vomit. Then he dry heaved for 2 minutes this morning trying to get up the one spoon of cereal I had given him. So I fed him a small bottle (cuz he was still hungry) and he managed to keep it down for 15 minutes. Uhg. Here's to another fun filled week.

Oh, and in the last half hour he's had the dry heaves twice...his body doesn't even want spit in his tummy. :( How long of not keeping anything down can we go before he needs to see a doctor? At least the last time he was keeping down half of what he ate.

The most important thing you want to watch for is dehydration. This can happen extremely fast. Try to get some pedialyte into him. Signs of dehydration: listlessness, crying without tears, tenting of the skin (when you pinch his skin it will kinda stay pinched a little and go down slower, or press on his skin. If it goes back to normal color slowly instead of instantly thats a sign), and lack of wet diapers. If you suspect he's dehydrated get him to the ER. Do NOT take no for an answer. You know your baby best, and if you feel something's wrong , there probably is.

When Tana was 1 1/2 she had the Rota virus (which sounds like it maybe what your son has) If she wasn't throwing up she was having diarhea. Anyways, I took her to the doctor and he said just give her pedialyte. Well she couldn't keep that down either. I called the doc 4 times to get permission to take her to the ER (insurance purposes) Finally he let me go. I took her to the ER and the doctor there said "Well, we'll do bloodwork, but she doesn't look that bad to me." The nurse saw how upset I was and convinced him to start fluids right away "just incase" Well 3 hrs later her bloodwork came back and her levels were less than half what they were supposed to be. She spent 2 days in the hospital on an IV.

I hope you find this helpful. It is not my intent to alarm you, but if he isn't keeping anything down he could get to a dangerous level pretty quickly.

Well, because of his being sick last month, I'm a lot more relaxed about it this time around. I know the signs of dehydration to look for, and I've been doing what the pediatrician at the children's hospital told us to do the last time. She told me to just forget about the pedialyte (the nurses at the hospital were making me force it into him), that formula was better for him because he needed the calories and vitamins as well as the electrolytes. So, I've just been feeding him smaller amounts more often.

Only once in the last 24 hours has he not kept it down. He has had a bit of diarhea today, though. He's still wetting and he has lots of tears and a wet mouth, his soft spot hasn't sunken so he's not dehydrated.

He's as grumpy as all out though. Got only one smile out of him all day, and that is sooo unusual.

I hope he'll be better soon.
