SUMMER SOLSTICE - June 21, 2002

STOP! Hold everything. Something's wrong. The Sun is no longer moving.

Ancient man was pretty darn good at tracking Sun, Moon and planets.
Generally the Sun moves northward or south about 1 degree a day.
Using rocks and shadows that one-degree movement could be observed.

But, in the last two days before a Solstice the Sun moves only 1
minute, not one degree. It could look like the world was coming to an
end.

Then came the Solstice. Which literally means "standing still". In
ancient Europe and the British Isles Summer Solstice was called Litha.

Visualize a big clock with a pendulum. Or, let your dowsing pendulum
swing back and forth. At each end of the swing the pendulum slows
down. Stops. Then changes direction.

That is the key. A cosmic, change of direction.

As with all cosmic events, us individual folks on planet earth get
pushed around a bit. How much? It's our choice.

It's the same ball. The Sun. Same ball park. Planet Earth. However,
at each Summer and Winter Solstice it becomes a whole new ball game.

It's called change of direction.

The affect is global, national, community and individually. National
leaders feel pushed around even more.

With the Karmic cleansing and Lunar Eclipse of May 25th and 26th,
PLUS the additional release triggered by the June 10th Solar Eclipse
which coupled with the Pluto / Saturn opposition...it's heads up time.

You and me along with national leaders and nations are feeling like
clothes being washed the old-fashioned way...beaten on rocks.

Hang in there, Pilgrim, if you don't take advantage of this time to
change direction, you're going to be hung out to dry. Do not push the
river (of change)...flow.

Take a look at some of the inner meanings.

Summer Solstice is always when the Sun enters Cancer. The Moon is
always in a different sign. This year the Moon is in Scorpio.

It's your choice whether you embrace the dark, brooding, inner
focused side of Scorpio or the spiritual, intuitive, persistent
creative side.

Nice thing about astrology...it is always our choice.

Whatever, this is a time of transformation and regeneration. There is
a component of this Solstice that might be called spiritual ecstasy.

Summer Solstice is the primary time of year for contact with devas,
angels, and fairies. Great time to go back and read
Shakespeare's "Mid-Summer's Night Dream". The Sun's rays are
perpendicular to the earth. Not oblique as at Winter Solstice. It is
the rays of the Sun on which angels and devas journey.

Alchemists realized the spiritual powers present at this time and
urged their pupils to take advantage of the Solar, Lunar perfection.
Students worked at extra studies, experiments and rituals. Even then
it was known as a time of creativity and manifestation.

One of the major creative speeches of all time was delivered at a
Summer Solstice. That was the Sermon on the Mount by Jesus.

Take stock of your life. What new plans of action can you manifest?

Here are a few ceremony and ritual tools to help you get in
the "swing of things", help to get in balance with the cosmos and the
cycles of nature.

In a ceremonial way, bless some water. Pour it on inside and outside
plants. The Sun has just entered Cancer which is the Mother of all
water signs.

Place some black or brown stones around your altar or create a sacred
place to put these stones. They aid in manifesting.

Black Onyx, Black Obsidian, Apache Tears and Mahogany Obsidian are
superior. Check our web site at: http://www.takeaction.com if you
want to acquire some.

All cycles and all planetary actions are activated by the functions
of polarity. Like the + and - of electricity. Sun goes into Cancer at
the Summer Solstice. The polarity of Cancer is Capricorn. Capricorn
rules the material, practical, organized side of life.

The black and brown stones help in grounding, bringing you back to
earth and then stepping out in a new direction.

Light an orange or brown candle. To really get into the Solstice
symbolism and balancing with nature, get some St John's Wort. It is
also a symbolic herb of summer. In former days the Summer Solstice
was called St John's Day. And in some countries St John's Day is
still celebrated on June 24th.

St John's Wort is a powerful healing herb often used to stimulate
dreams and intuition. This is an herb most appropriate for fostering
creativity and taking action.

The pendulum swings. Back and forth. It stops. It has to stop in
order to change direction. This is the great transmutation time. Take
a few moments. Stop everything. Stop even those ever constant mind
tapes you have going on.

Meditate. You can ... take advantage of this cosmic time for change.

For those who want to get into the precise moment of the cosmic stop
and change ... the Sun enters Cancer at exactly 9:24 AM Eastern
Daylight Time. Move one hour earlier for each time zone.

Have a wonderful and exciting year.

Love and blessings

David
