An article that includes a list of the safer bottles to use if you need them for expressed human milk, formula, or water.

Of course I have the Canadian version of Playtex Ventaire, which are *not* BPA free. Looking at ordering some new bottles for Xmas but not relishing switching over. In the past Baby would *NOT* take anything but his own brand bottle. Right now he's still on stage 1 nipples too.

I would have liked the article to include bottles that weren't recommended. We use playtex drop-ins and I was surprized that they weren't on the recommended list. I couldn't change anyway, Cameron refuses to use any other type of nipple than playtex.

I was happy to see that the pacifiers I bought by accident are the ones that are recommend. :) Not that it matters....I bought new (stage 2) pacifiers the other day and Cameron refuses to use them.

Edit: ah, thanks for posting that link, RainInnana - it looks like the hard plastic of the playtex bottle isn't BPA free, but the drop in is. I would think it's the drop in that's more important, wouldn't you?

crap..

we use avent bottles since we used it when i briefly pumped my breastmilk. Scarlet immediately took the bottle so we stuck with it.

does this mean i need to change her bottles now?

Everything else I've read said playtex drop-ins are safe.

I just read an article that said the polyethylene bottle liners are safe, but canned infant formula may come in cans lined with plastic that may contain BPA.

Use glass baby bottles or plastic bag inserts made of polyethyelene, or switch to non-clear polypropylene bottles that are labeled #5. Don't buy canned infant formula.

I think that that really depends on how paranoid of a mom you are. :) I, personally, wouldn't switch. Maybe it's nieve, but until there is a recall I'm of the opinion that it's safe enough for my child.

(as an aside, I've always considered this issue to be blown way out of proportion.)

If you really feel that it's unsafe and it's scaring you to use it, then by all means, switch.

At the risk of exposing my utter stupidity, what other option is there then canned, aside from the small bottles?

I just switched to soy. And if that doesn't work we're going to have to lay down a mint for Nutramigen.

I'm assuming they mean canned liquid formula, like concentrate or ready to feed. I buy canned concentrate formula because powder makes him spit up. So, that won't be changing.

Ah, thanks.

Wondered if my brain had just left me.
