I did an Oracle reading with my 'Goddess Guidance' cards today, asking the question - What are the things that are blocking me at the moment? and I pulled Kali and then Bast.

What does this mean? Anyone know when these two Goddesses should be called upon, and what for? Why would I pull these two Goddesses when asking the question 'What's blocking me at the moment?'

Thanks in advance!

well Kali is a favorite of mine... I think of her as the female divine thresher..... an agent of change.... i would say she's not blocking you...but rather challanging you to break through... cut hard and deep.. make the blood flow to free yourself from what is binding you so that you can progress to your next flowering...

Like Kali, Bast is a bloody goddess....originally she was a war goddess, and wore the face of a lioness...later she was 'fixed' and made a into a mere cat....

neither of these goddesses are 'bad' but they are 'hard-ass bitches'

I think they are encouraging you to figuritively 'take up the sword and cut what ever is binding you.

fight fight fight....

"For each age is a dream that is dying,Or one that is coming to birth." Arthur William Edgar O’Shaughnessy

birth and death are both bloody, scary times... but for you I think you are clearing the way for a new birth.

Wow, I've been waiting on someone answering this post, it's nearly 1am over here in the UK and I've just got the reply I thought I was going to get (in a good way). I knew I'd drawn these two Goddesses for this reason, I drew them both last week as well, but hearing it from someone else has just brought a tear to my eye. I'm going through a living hell right now (with an addiction - all brought on by myself) one I've been battling for some years now and I know the right thing to do, but to do it again is gonna be hard (hey, I've done it before) and it's awful but the final outcome is for the best, for me and for everyone around me, and to live a "normal" life is the best feeling in the world, but getting there is gonna be hard again. I knew why I'd drawn Kali and Bast but I needed to hear it from someone else, thank you!

Their gonna make me do this, once again, and hell yeah, They will keep on pushing me until I've cracked it once and for all, no matter how hard it will be, because in the end, all this pain and hurt will be worth it. I can see the light through all this darkness and I WILL touch it, I WILL end up there again, and this time it WILL work!

Sorry, I'm rammbling now, its late, I must get to bed. Thank You for your reply, it was much needed :)

Namaste Enlightenment1.

I know very little about Bast other then her association with cats, and pregnant women, but from what you and Tanya have said, her nature seems quiet similar to that of Kali Ma. Kali's nature may seem quiet frightening and violent, but these seemingly negative qualities when used in a beneficial manor, are quiet helpful. Indeed, while her slew of weapons, and her divine rage are directed towards destroying the unrighteous, one of her hands is always open in the varada mudra to bless and nurture her children/devotees. I'm thinking that perhaps her violent and fierce way of eliminating our obstacles seems to indicate that you're escape from this personal hell, will definitely be a difficult and painful task, but mother will be there to shower love and kindness upon you when it is most needed.

Good luck on kicking your addiction, and Jai Kali Ma!

I know quite a bit less about Kali than Bast.

Bast is a Goddess of many aspects, She is a defender of the right and order of the world - Ma'at, and She can also be a rather hedonistic Lady, encouraging a sensual experience of the world. She can be a Warrior, and a Lover and a wonderful source of Nurturing.

Perhaps you are being pushed not to just have a breakthrough, but to also take care of yourself - something that can be very difficult for some. :)

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post, much appreciated!!!

Kali is making Her self known more and more now. A big black crow keeps showing itself to me lately too?

I thought Sekhmet was more of a war goddess than Bast. A big black crow?
Maybe Crow is one of your animal totems.
Here's a link to what Crow symbolizes: http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/crow.htm

Sekhmet and Bast are both Goddesses who are involved in battle - it was only during the Greco-Roman period that the whole Sekhmet=bloody Warrior and Bast=her Nice sister thing came up.

Badb is the Irish (Celtic) Goddess of war. She often assumes the form of a raven or carrion-crow (her favorite disguise) and is then referred to as Badb Catha, meaning "battle raven". Not only did she take part in battles themselves, she also influenced their outcome by causing confusion among the warriors with her magic. The battle-field is often called 'land of Badb'. She formed part of a triad of war-goddesses with Macha (Nemain) and the Morrigan. >>(Encyclopedia Mystica online)

Morgan is also associated with the crow, and frankly i think these are basically the same goddess, as she too is associated with war and death.

Argh, thanks for this info :) It seems that the Dark Goddess/Goddesses are calling me, but I know that's not always a bad thing, not at all, just at this point in my life they are obviously needed - giving me a good kick-up the bum that's appropriate.
