I need to get Cam gaining weight again, and the only solid I can think of to help is avocado. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Depending on age and allergies, nuts are a healthy fat source, as is fish.

When Robert needed to have a bit more fat in his diet we mixed whole milk yogurt with his milk. That might be a bit too much saturated fat for Cameron's age, though.

milk fat for little kids is a good thing, as they are in the brain delopment stage, it's why they suggest whole milk for little kids and not low fat.

Cheese? Avocado and cream cheese dip?
You could try giving him some dried fruit as well. You'll probably need to soften it for him by boiling the dried fruit in a little water then smooshing it up with some porridge or yoghurt. Softened raisins and sultanas with a little cinnamon usually goes down well in some porridge, at a young age you just need to blend them to a smooth pulp if you're worried about choking.
They're a very concentrated source of calories and make a nice treat because they're sweet. I used to give my son dried apricots that came partially hydrated or whatever, so they were very soft already. Buy organic and they won't have been coloured with all sorts of crap.
Don't worry too much about his weight gain at this stage. My son struggled to gain any weight at all for a good few months after he started crawling and then walking (and all that kind of rolled into him starting nursery, so he came home with a lot of viruses etc as well). He never had a big appetite for big meals, so he pretty much grazed throughout the day. Cheesy dips and dried fruit were a good way to get the calories into him.

I wouldnt worry too much about his slipping from the 50th percentile to the 25th just yet. He has just gotten over being sick and babies tend to bounce back pretty quick without you having to change anything. Let his appetite guide you and dont worry about upping the fat content - he will eat more of what he needs if he needs it.
