British tabloid News of the World claims Britney Spears is planning to adopt twins from China.
The newspaper's Rav Showbiz column announces: "The desperate singer has told friends she's in the final stages of talks with an adoption agency and plans to go ahead with the move very soon.
"Friends feel that Britney has decided to adopt the two six-year-old tots from China in a frantic bid to fill the void left by losing her sons to K-Fed," it continues.
She lost custody rights to her own children (and for good reasons) so I really don't think she should be allowed to adopt... although, if these kids are going to be put to death, considering this is China, I guess this gives them a chance.

Bullshit.
Regulations for adopting from China prevent her from adopting on almost every count. Here are the first three:
Adoption is limited to married couples, made up of a man and a woman, who fit the following criteria:
They must have been married at least two years. If either person has previously divorced, the couple must have been married at least five years. No more than two divorces are allowed.
Both partners must be between the ages of 30 and 50. Those couples who apply to adopt a special needs child must be between the ages of 30 and 55.
Both partners must be physically and mentally fit, with none of the following conditions:Link (http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/intercountry/intercountry_3110.html)

Surely if she has lost custody of her own children then she shouldnt be allowed to adopt any- maybe she should focus on her own children and looking after them when she can see them rather than " trying to fill the void"
Good old News of the World- id take it with a pinch of salt

yha... you would think she'd try to get her kids back... but wasn't there a lesbian woman that adopted a kid a while back... obviously not married and wouldnt fit a lot of the "required" criteria- except that she had $$$$ ...
dunno...

I think this story probably isn't true...
However, the last thing that woman needs right now is more kids. She needs to get herself sorted out first and her head screwed on the right way. Poor girl - hounded, silly, misguided, exploited, and with more money than sense.

Agreed. I doubt this story is true but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

Rosie O'Donnell, Angelina Jolie and others have adopted without being married... I think those "guide lines" only apply if you don't have millions of dollars to spend.
I just hope that this story isn't true....

But neither Rosie O' nor Angelina have adopted from China. They are more strict with their regulations in China. Not even Madonna adopted from China...
Read the regulations, some are kind of outrageous...

I think the thing to bear in mind is the keyword "Planning to adopt"
just because she plans to do it does not make it so, and as has been already mentioned, chinese law would not allow it...
please be carefull what you read in the news media, as we all know, media can be very misleading...
