I'm pulling up a list of good books to get on Asatru life, Norse magick, Runes, etc and I'd like to hear some feedback :] Please let me know if you have any recommendations! So far here are the cool things I've found...

Essential Asatru (http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Asatru-Walking-Norse-Paganism/dp/0806527080/ref=pd_sim_b_title_5/102-1313838-0055338)...

Our Troth 1 (http://www.amazon.com/Our-Troth-1-History-Lore/dp/1419635980/ref=pd_sim_b_title_6/102-1313838-0055338) and Our Troth 2 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1419636146/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)...

Taking Up the Runes (http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Up-Runes-Complete-Divination/dp/1578633257/ref=pd_sim_b_title_1/102-1313838-0055338)...

Northern Mysteries & Magick (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?ATH=Freya+Aswynn&z=y)... really interested in this one ^_^

Edred Thorsson is well-known, but which (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/102-1313838-0055338?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Edred%20Thorsson) of his books would be best to get as far as Runes go?

And can anyone recommend a good Prose or Poetic Edda translation for me to get? Some people fight over which versions are more accurate, but I want to know what people on here think. So far I've found Oxford's version (http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Edda-Oxford-Worlds-Classics/dp/0192839462/ref=pd_sim_b_title_2) and Penguin's version (http://www.amazon.com/Prose-Edda-Mythology-Penguin-Classics/dp/0140447555/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196102338&sr=1-1).

Thanks so much!

Hi Lestismitethee - were I you, I would go into the Recon forum, find any post by Seapearls and click on the BookHoard link in her siggy. It will take you to a VERY comprehensive book list she has compiled during her research on the Germanic/Norse path.

Thanks so much, you guys :D I've looked through the list and there's so much great info! I'm going to order a ton of books and get learning!

I wish there were some Asatruar nearby that I could talk to and go to meetings with, but I don't know of any ;_; If there are any, I think they don't let anyone know they are unless you ask them about it. I hope I can be part of a group someday soon! I am SO ready!

 Seconded. If you want to know where to start, I recommend the trio Runelore, Futhark, and At the Well of Wyrd.

Yep. Same here. We almost seem to be clustered. There are a lot of Heathens in certain areas and few to none in others.

Myself, I am in the cluster of 1

Here is the steward list for The Troth: http://www.thetroth.org/Stewards
You don't have to be a member to contact the state/regional steward for your area; he or she wil be glad to help you locate Heathen folk (again, not necesarily Troth folk) near you, if any are known to exist.

True indeed!

But if you can only get one, get RuneLore.
