Hi,druid moderator here.
Just on a whim, I decided to lay a spread with my tarot deck[i don't normally use them in divination, I'm a rune kinda guy hehe] and found someone has stolen 3 of the cards from my deck! :eek: The cards missing are;
-Temperance [#14 Major Arcane]
-The Emperess(sp) [#3 Major Arcane]
-The Ace of Swords

Knowing some of the people I do:crazy: my questions are this. What would these cards, when put together, represent? Can these cards be used in ritual against me!!? If so, what would be a good protection against the influence?

Some of the people I know are wannabes in the magickal realm and probably know just enough to be dangerous. I guess this pisses me off more than anything but, I'm not a tarot expert so I could use an expert opinion on this. Also, this isn't the first time someone has done this to one of my decks.

If you think this is serious enough, please email me! Otherwise, post here and I'll go on.

Damnit I'm on vacation! I don't need this stress. Heheheh

Peace!

I'm no expert, but here is my advice.

Well, the cards themselves actually have very postive meanings.

Temperance-balance and harmony, health.
Empress-fertility, nurturing, mothering.
Ace of Swords-the carrys the epitemy of the Suit of Swords, clear thinking, mental clarity and force.

I don't think that these cards could be used against you. I can't see any of them as being a Significator, a card that would represent you.

I do have to ask though, are you sure you haven't done a 3 card spread at some point and forget to put them back? I know it sounds like a stupid question....but things happen. I know sometimes I will have a couple cards out for meditation, or study purposes and leave them out for a day or two. Or, there are those who like to create "Tarot Spells" and this calls for the cards to be wrapped up and kept together for the length of the spell. But the book that I've seen on that, doesn't have any real negative spells in it. My suggestion, is look around; maybe they'll show up.

If taken, they may have been taken because the person was drawn to these cards. This isn't the first time?? Where do you keep your decks that other people have access to them? To ensure their safety, I would get a small cedar hope box that locks. This way, only you know where you store your key, and they are safe from theft. This is also a good way to keep your cards, it will help keep outside, unwanted energy from accessing and building up in your cards....oh, and wrapping them in a natural fiber piece of cloth (cotton, silk, etc) is also a good idea.

It's unfortunate to have them stolen! I have never had a problem with this. I did have a friend that believed her tarot deck would 'disappear' if someone handled them without her permission. I don't know if she thought the entire deck disappeared or just a couple cards....just enough to hinder you from doing a reading.

My suggestion would be to question those who have access to them and if that doesn't produce them....then it's time to move on and get a new deck. Don't just throw out your old ones though. I would use them in scrapbooking, or make confetti out of them and place them in a decorative bowl or do something mosaic with them, or make paper out of them; something crafty. You could also bury them, that would clear the energy out of them then you could destroy them anyway you see fit.

Chin up.....hope the rest of your vacation goes well!

Hi Dagda!!! No, unfortunately, they weren't lost 'cause I count them before and after each use. Thanks for the prompt response. That's one less thing to really worry about now, knowing they are positive cards. Siiiigh, guess I'll have to buy a new deck now.

Peace and Andrastas blessings to you!

This may sound weird, but....
I've noticed that with tarot cards, as well as some stones, that when you've out grown them they tend to make you let go of them....
It may be wierd to think of your cards as just disappearing, but once the deck is broken up it usually means that it was time to get a new one anyway.... it's time to grow :)
On an off note.... I've had that happen with stones, especially ones that absorb negativity.... I had an opal ring that I just loved, and one day it just fell off my finger, never to be seen again.

I totally agree with you! :D

I've had jewelry like that disappear too. Never seen a trace of them again. :(

The cards could have developed "personality" and decided to wander off for a moment. A friend of mine and I both have the interesting problem that our cards, ritual tools and many other different things will wander away from us for a time only to be found again later. <shrugs> Some times it's because we had been using them as a crutch and it's the Universe's way of telling us not to do that, and other times it's because we need to seek out the associated qualities within ourselves.

Beyond that, if the Fair Ones are in a mood to play games with you, anything can happen. Ranging from the spectacularly plesant, but odd to the down right maddeningly irritating but funny. <shrugs> I've had that happen to me too. But that's a different story. :)

I have to agree with the others that maybe you have outgrown that particular tarot set.

I've had several crystals in my life that did that. They would come and go as they pleased so to speak, but were always there when I needed them. Eventually they permanently disappeard with no explanation.

Yeah, I do a LOT of crystal work myself and they do have a habit of coming and going at will. Heheh. As to the opal ring? Legend has it that only certain [types] of people can own opal. They hold the FIRE of the Gods in them you know.

( 3 hours Later) WELL! What a coincidence. I just got Llewellyn catalog in the mail, with a pic on the front of the newest tarot deck out!!! Do you think they are trying to tell me something:crazy: ;) :D Heheheh, I swear this is true. And remember, it's ONLY coincidence!8O

twice I have found cards "missing" / "stolen" from my decks. I try very VERY hard not to make too much of it...

Most companys, if you write them, will gladly send you a replacement card for two free of charge. Both times I had cards missing, I simply wrote an email and the replacements a few days later!

and one was even being mailed from GB.

I never found that one...but the one I recently "lost" (2 of swords) from my Haindl Tarot, I found the day the replacement card arrived

I have to send the extra back to them, since they were so kind as to mail me the extra!

Cheers

Merry Merry,
Interesting ahhh three card spread you have there, with the Empress? could it have been a woman who might have been "attracted to those cards" ? And the with the Ace of Swords is power, and the temperance card of all things meaning balance, I see this "negative reading" negative ONLY inthe sense that these are the three gone missing, by what ever means; that you might need to empower the feminine side of you and bring yourself into balance. Just an idea :> .
About a year ago I changed jobs, and now work just minutes away from my home, which is a blessing as I used to drive 60 miles each way, BUT the biggest blessing has been working with like minded people. One of the other supervisors, huband's father (stay with me on this) was a member of an occult esoteric group back in the 30's and his son never really got into the stuff his father did until recently. So they came to me and said ..... " we have all these OLD BOOKS and sets of TAROT CARDS up in the attic in an old trunk and we have Doubles of most of then would you LIKE THEM?? and could you explain how these card things work?"
Well I about flipped out......( and a friend of mine who is a witch in Salem offered to drive down and GO THRU the books with me when he heard which group it was ) but this is how my latest Tarot deck came to me... and this group is still around, and there are "modern" versions of the deck out but I have the old Black hardback books in the esoteric teaching series ; with dragons and symbols and sigils etched in Gold on the covers, to go with the cards, and I am deeply grateful.
I would tell what group this is but as I said they are still around and still "occult or hidden" and I feel very strongly about not revealing this at this time, but I will say there are more correspondences than most people use,and it has deepened my knowledge and understanding ,and
I feel very "gifted by the goddess". But that is one way to get a TArot deck, and I had not used this particular deck or system before, and probably would not have chosen it myself.

How fascinating! Could you share what other correspondences there are that most don't use? I think that would be fascinating. I would love to give a deeper reading!~and deepen my understanding and knowledge! :D

I'm familiar with the correspondences with: numberology, astrology, colors, symbolism. What others are there?

:D

Merry Merry.
There are to name some .... the Numerology , the Astrology,The Color, the Harmonics,
the Human Function, the Alchemy, the Bible, the Masonic Degree,The Magic Function, Degree of Initiation of the Pilgrimage of the Soul, and Occult Science. These are part of a system that reaches back into antiquity, and incorporates several systems, from Tibet to Egypt to Kabala. Some of this information is available in the esoteric study of astrology and other esoteric schools as well , but let me just put my own words in here.
You HAVE to put away ; not the powers of discrimination, but the attitudes of "JUDGEMENT", of whether something is "good or bad " right or wrong, in and of itself, and to be able to look at things from differnt points of view. The deepest knowlegde is expressed in the most mundane and simple of terms. All or nothing thinking wherein you judge someone ELSE will completely bar this gate, to the opening of increased understanding. You can only ever hope to know about your path and the reason you are here. Why someone else is doing what they are doing is a manifestation of the lessons they are learning, or even teaching. This doesnt mean tolerating abuse, or even an all white light appraoach to everything, because that is not reality. We would not be able to see the stars if it werent for the great deep dark, which is a glimpse into the womb of the Great Goddess herself. The way IN is through TRUTH. if you can tell the sound of the truth you have begun. Truth has a RING to it that sounds deep and "true". Listen for it and you will hear it .
