Hi There,
If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I need a reading about my current work situation - (wow, nearly typed sh-tuation! Freudian slip, anyone?)
Basically, I have been working through an employment agency at the same place for over six months. I was told that I would be hired on after three months, but that has not happened. When I've asked about why, I was told that the procedure to hire me is too time-wasting and complex, and that in order to hire me, they'd have to bring me on as an internal "temporary employee", and then do an "internal hire". This temporary hire still has not yet happened.
I am getting to the point that I almost want to start looking for another job, but what stops me is this: everyone I work with is SO nice. I couldn't ask for a better office environment. I don't get in unreasonable trouble if I have to take time off for an appointment, or if I become ill. And there WILL be health benefits - if I could just be hired already!
But I don't know! I almost want to look for another job instead. I don't know what to do. The part that bugs me is that I am in a very important situation, where if I left the whole office would fall apart, for at LEAST a week if not much longer, as I'm the only person who knows how to do what I do there. If I leave, I don't know if they'll even be able to train another person to do the job - my trainer moved across the country, and I'm the only one doing this job.
Are there any good opportunities in my future, or should I stick with this and really pursue it to the best of my ability? Nag on the boss until she hires me, threaten to leave, what? I don't know what to do!
