I was wondering if anyone could let me know of some ways to figure out what a dream is trying to tell you...like, archetype lists and such. Or meditations, what would correspond to dream work...any help would be appreciated.

. . . and no matter what you think of Freud, "The Interpretation of Dreams" is always a great place to start. :)

thankies for the info, but nothing really applied to the specific dream that prompted my question. ^^; It was nearly completely different than anything I ever recall dreaming before and that totally threw me off, plus it was a nightmare. o.o I guess I might need to do more dream work.
Thanks anyway, though. ^^

You can also find a multitude of dream dictionaries online by searching google (http://google.com) or find them in some books. There are lots of dream interpretation books of course and I think a list in some Pagan books; I'm pretty sure there is one in Green Witchcraft and I am sure there are others.

hey, if you're ok with it. . . . you can post your dream here, or in divination. Someone might be able to help you. I for one would read and give whatever input I could. . . *smiles*

Well if you wanna tackle what I'd consider a "doozie". ^^' Thanks a lot...my boyfriend and I tried to figure it out and couldn't. I'll just stick it here, I guess...
(copied from digitized dream dictionary)
I had a very vivid dream last night which was very different from anything I normally
dream. First of all, it took place in my house. Usually my dreams are in settings I've never
seen in real life. Also it involved my family, specifically my mother and my dog. There
was a young man lying on a bed in my living room, who I think is my boyfriend in the
dream. We're talking about something and a little boy comes up to ask for a pound of
candy with his mother. I laugh. The little boy first holds up an empty bag and makes a
sound of dissapointment, then the man pulls a line of wrapped candy of various brands
out of another bag, all connected with masking tape. The boys is happy and leaves. I
laugh at the "pre-pounded" candy. Then the man gives me several gifts, all seemingly
made of plastic and stuff you can get at the dollar store. The last is a plastic folder-like
thing (looks like a transparemcy) that opens at the bottom and has a picture of a
block-like house (think the century 21 ad) and the words "For Rent" in large, bold letters.
I am happy and I hug him. He feels very bony, almost like there's just a skeleton beneath
the t-shirt. I talk like a lover does to her love, and kiss his neck. He begins trembling and I
notice the bones beneath the t-shirt don't feel quite human any more. Like there's bony
growths and ridges, like some sort of alien. I worriedly ask what's wrong. Suddenly he is
lying on the bed again and I am kneeling on the floor at the foot, him facing me and lying
on his back. He is another person. He laughs at me and says nothing was ever real
(concerning our relationship). I ask why all the effort and he says something about
"them". I ask who "they" are, who he is, and "why do you people keep coming to my
house!". He says I work for "her". He is in a brown chair that sits in my real living room
now, it is evening outside. I think I'm attacking him physically (throddling, pulling the
face skin, something). He says something about a group of beasts (demons) whose name
starts with a K...kaylar beasts, something. I get very angry and yell as I run out the door. I
tear a necklace from my neck (pulling until the cord [which is clear plastic] snaps) and
toss it to the ground. I have a pendant (charm? amulet?) in my hand in the shape of a lion.
I am in my front yard, and everything is exactly how it is in real life (even the positions of
the cars!) I start spinning in circles with my arms outstretched and call on Brighid, calling
her "protector of women, protector of my household and protecter against evil spirits".
Then I scream/yell. I say the words again, screaming once after "Brighid" and again at the
end of the line, then go on to ask her to aid me/get rid of the spirit. I then bring my hands
to gether above my head and send the energy raised (I can actually see it glowing
yellow-orangeish) to the sky. Then I run back in the house. My mother is sitting in the
chair now, and as I look right into my living room my dog is lying in a dead position on
the floor. On her back, tongue out and eyes rolled back, but I can tell she is not yet dead. I
throw myself over her and shout "No!" saying he will not touch my dog, my house, my
family, or anything of mine. I think I visualize a golden bubble spreading out from myself
to encompass the room and house. My mom asks what I am doing and I say "excorsizing
a spirit". She asks since when could I do that and was that me dancing? I cannot answer
her as there is a message outside the back window-door thing in our kitchen (like the door
to a deck, sliding glass...if we had a deck). It is literally a message, it is like the window
messages that popup on your computer like if you choose to close a program without
saving your work...the little window that pops up, asking you if you want to save the
changes. It says something about cursing, from there it gets fuzzy, but I remember hearing
the man's voice...or another man's, it was a deep male voice. I woke up mid-sentence.
And I woke suddenly. o.o
It was weird because most of the things in the dream were copies of how my house is
right now irl. The only differences was the bed at the first part of the dream and when I
went back inside there was a christmas tree set up, but undecorated. The weird/scary part
is my boyfriend is schedueled to visit me in only a week. It was NOT him in the dream,
though, it was someone else. I'm sure of it. I have been working on things pagan-related,
in fact I had been painting runestones all that day. I feel like I want to do a house blessing
or something now o.o; I've been under a ot of stress lately, so that could probobly influence it a lot....meh.
Sorry if that was stupidly long o.o....

my goodness. . . how surreal. . .
Were I trying to figure that dream for myself, I would no doubt say some rather odd things. But I don't know or even think they have any relevence to you. . .
Are you afraid that when your boyfriend comes. . . something about him will be different? That there is some secret you don't know about, and suddenly it will betray itself to you? Perhaps this is a way of your mind warning you that there may be a sort of surreal, confusing, and unexpected struggle in the future (though not nessicarily with him. . . more like with what you have established as truth and reality?)
It's really hard to say about it. . . . I'm not sure. I don't know you well. . . and whilst I have had such surreal and creepy dreams, I don't really know what to tell you *hugs* but thank you for sharing. Perhaps someone else may have an idea.

Thanks Puma-san! ^^ The most we (me and my boyfriend) could come up with was that it was stress-related, since most of the dream is a bunch of my fears all coming true.

That's probobly one of my fears. ^^' My boyfriend being different, that is...see ours is a unique type of relationship (I guess you could say). We met online and this will be our first "face to face" so I guess deep down I'm hoping everything will be all right with that. I know how people think about that kind of thing, and I've heard it all before so no need to say anything. :P We've been together a year and have talked on the phone at least once a week or so for the past three months, and I've talked to his friends both online and on the phone. So I'm pretty sure by now I would have known if he was an axe murderer or not. :P Anyway, a lot of my...trepidation...comes from the relationship I had before him, which was very manipulative and damaging to say the least.
As for the possible struggle....gods I hope not. I already have enough to deal with as it is! x.x

what exactly do people think, dear? :) my best friend and her boyfriend have been together. . . gosh. . three or four years. They live together now. . . but they started online. He was from boston, and she from texas. :D anything can work with love and a stubborn will! ;) Just so long as you're being careful, and feel safe. Oh. . . don't forget that happiness thing! :D

heh, sorry...I've heard so much from people about how he could be a predator or con artist or something I become instantly defensive when I have to tell them we met online. People are so dumb about this sort of thing sometimes... ~.~
