Mithrea told me there were some threads on this sort of thing, but I couldn't find them, so I'll describe it and maybe you guys can help me or tell me where they are?

Last night/this morning (since I don't go to bed til around 5 -7 am) I was laying in my room getting ready to go to sleep. As I was laying there, I suddenly felt very very sleepy, where as before I was only a little bit. Before I went to bed I had been reading up on Ancient Egypt, and while I was falling asleep I started to dream of something about Egypt. I didn't stay in the dream long enough to know what, because I started freaking out. I was only half asleep, and I forced my eyes open, but I could barely open them and they just dropped back down. While I was in the dream I tried to move my arm, but I couldn't. I could feel it twitch, but I couldn't move it. Finally I used all my (willpower?) to force myself to get up. And I suddenly wasn't tired anymore... I got out of bed and crawled into my mom's for two reasons. I feel more comfortable for some reason sleeping in the same room as someone else (besides the fact that it felt like someone or something was also in my room with me.) and my mom's bed is much more comfortable than mine so I sleep easier.

Any ideas? Know where the threads are? I'd appreciate the help.

Here are some threads on the Dream Interpretation classes to start with.

Sounds like you were in that state in between sleeping and waking that we all get into right before we go to sleep, but often miss. I've been working on becoming more aware of it in an effort to manipulate my dreams.

I agree. There could be several causes for what you describe. The first is that whatever you were reading caused you some stress or anxiety for some reason. The fact that you went right to the subject that you were reading about points directly at that.

Another is that you were more tired than you realized, and depending on the stress of the day could have caused the feelings that you had, that seems to happen when you have brain "overload." I often have a feeling of falling, (when in overload) which is very distressing...Not to mention the fact that it makes very hard to fall asleep when your heart is jumping out of your chest.

Whatever the reasons...I think it was based on your day and what you had done. My first guess would be that the book started it and being more overtired or stressed than you realized made you feel like you didn't have the strength to move. I'm also guessing that it was fear that finally brought you to waking state.

Just my opinion...been an insomniac most of my life so reading about sleeping disorders makes for good bedtime reading. ;)
