The West burns every year.......suicide bombers have been blowing themselves and innocents up for decades in Europe and Middle East.........and floods are pretty common this time of year......and unfortunately, the East Coast is due for a monster hurricane sooner or later.......Personally, I feel deeply for everyone this is happening to, but I have my own problems to worry about.......This is only my humble opinion.....and I want to restate I pray for everyone involved in these tragedies everyday!!!

Ehhh. . . I think most Bible prophecies are too vague. **Shrugs** There's always chaos and strife in the world, and there're always so many ways to interpret what are really some fairly vague visions.
People thought the world was going to end in 1000, in 1064, in 1913, in 1945. . . and of course, there're the folks who thought it was going to end in 2000. They've all been proven wrong; and the outlook doesn't look much better for the people who've predicted 2005, or 2012, or 2013, or 2150.
Don't worry about when the world might end. Just make the most of the time you have today. :)

...That way if the world does end tomorrow, you'll have enjoyed today!
:D:D
(btw don't worry about the west burning... it ALWAYS does... stupid dry west. it's nature's way of revitalizing sort of. we need fires every now and then (just hope humans don't get in the way))
In any case, the "anti-christ" hasn't appeared yet, so I'm not too worried :D And if Christianity is indeed the right path, oh well. Hopefully God will understand my point of view :p (of course this is after I denounce everything I ever believed in and repent.... TOTALLY KIDDING)
What I mean to say is enjoy life while you can, and try not to worry about it too much. Just follow your heart and stay on your own path, and hopefully things will clear

Phoenix _ Blue...you've summed up my opinion on the whole thing perfectly!
My husband used to read alot about prophecies of a meteor hitting earth, or about nuclear fall out. And I would just roll my eyes. While he'd be discussing ways to survive underground, or up in space in such cases, I told him..."Umm..if something like that really were like..five minutes away from happening, I'd just ask you to hand me the gun, and let me kill myself. I've no desire to live on a planet after any such devestation. To live underground, and never be able to experience life as I know it again? No thanks. To live up in outerspace..No Thanks. So..since there's nothing I can do to avoid it right now..I don't give a fig about the prophecies. What will be will be. I'll enjoy my life today, without worrying about tomorrow :) "

Having both studied and taught the bible in the past, I can tell you that the prophecies have "come true" over and over and we are all still here. Also if you study other religions you will find they also have doomsday prophecies. The only thing we really have to worry about is our ability to destroy ourselves and big rocks in space. We are just fine, in the long run, besides, the bible we read was written to scare people so they would flock to the church and fill its coffers. <<Just my opinion, of course.

No worries. The end of the world has started many times in the past. It is in our nature to only think that the world well come to an end, for it is the cycle of life that everything must die. And we as the dominate self-destructive race... well, have a hand in it. Cultures around the world have their own believes about the world ending. I feel that this 'new' end of the world is just fueled by the happenings of last year and the Left Behind Series based off of Revelations. Hey, let's face it, haven't you read a good book with alot of adventure and wanted it to really happen??
I best stop here, or this well become quite long and boring.

You said it Delete. The whole "End Times' thing has more to do with the authors of the Left Behind series making a profit than any "prophet" in the Bible. And their research into Bible history sucks rocks.
IMO, as a scholar, Revelations has a lot of prophecy in it - relating to the Roman Empire.
I will say this, what p*$$es me off about all that End Times stuff, especially since 9/11, is it underlines the selfishness and lack of vision that we Americans have. We worry the world is coming to an end because bad things are now affecting us - the most privledged, spoiled people on the planet? Pul-lease. Most of the world has been living continuously under the threat of war, famine, starvation and the like for the past century or more. It wasn't the end times if it happened in Africa, China or Northern Ireland, but it is when it happens in the States?
The recent Time article on the trashy, bigoted Left Behind books did point out that the heroes were comparatively well to do yuppie white Americans with cell phones and expensive SUVs - the very people who are suddenly feeling threatened by the the things that have been scaring the whole rest of the world for ever. So obviously, if things are going bad for them, it means their version of God is about to swoop down and destroy all the rest of us with as much gore and violence as possible, and save them. How pompous and self serving is that?
The deeper metaphor of that kind of theology, in my opinion, is it marks and understanding of the fact that their version of Christianity is in fact starting to die itself. This stuff is a sign of illness.
Reality: things have always sucked on some level. If they didn't, you wouldn't appreciate the good stuff. That's how life works. I am far more worried about what I can do to make the world a better place in whatever small way I can than how I can suck up to "god" to get saved after Armaggeddon, Ragnarok, whatever.
Ignore the schlocky scare tactics and the rhetoric designed to convert you into a fearful member of the herd, and just worry about what you can control.
Prayer is good, magic is good, and living your life well is the best thing you can do.

Just me opinion, but humans have a tendency to blow things out of purportion. Like 'doomsday' 'revelations' the 'end', like I said, my opinion is that all life revolves, the circle of life. No matter how the 'END' comes, it will be dvestating to some, but enhancing to others.
I personally think we as humans have sped up the life cycle of the earth, but thats nature for you.

Those awful predictions always make me scoff. How can anyone believe those articles when they're right next to the picture of the "incredible bat-boy" in the checkout line? There will always be destruction and death in the world. There cannot be light without the dark. There cannot be spring without winter. There can be no life without death. It's the natural cycle of things. Like ying and yang. The goddess and the dark goddess. I personally see nothing to fear. These disasters, the west burning, the squabbles in the Middle East, are things to mourn and then revere because good will ineveitably come from the evil. The world is not going to end...it's just continuing its natural cycle.

I am here to say that the west *does* always burn. I've lived in Colorado all my life.. and there are ALWAYS horrible fires. It's been happening ALOT more lately because for the past 5 or 6 years, we've been getting less and less snow during the winter, and since we're at the top of the water-chain (AZ, UT, NV, CA, NM all get some of their water from us)... if *we're* in a drought... imagine what *they're* going through.
I remember, in 1986, I was in Kindergarten and I read somewhere (or saw it on tv, can't remember) that the world was supposed to end at exactly 1:53 (I can't remember the date, but I can't remember the time LOL)... and I was sharpening my pencil... watching the clock... and boom, 1:53 hit, and I freaked out, I dropped to the ground and started screaming. LOL It took me a long time to realize the world hadn't ended and that everyone in class was staring at me like I'd gone mad. Ever since then, I've realized that it does no good to freak out about things like this. Hell, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen and there ain't a damn thing you can do to stop it. Plus, I just remember all the stares from the kids and my teacher... and it's just embarassing, so I vote everyone keeps their cool. LOL
