I used to a lot, but now... not so much. I need to get back in the habit, I keep having weird dump dreams as a result, I think.

I do not get to do it as often as I would like, and I also have the issues of falling asleep when I do meditate. Meditating is one of my goals for the new year to improve on.

I find I have to go to sleep to put my mind wholly into a state where I can access the Other.
Perhaps I am just too mentally active during the day to access my hidden energies by meditation alone but I can normally "see" things consciously without meditation and in largely rational professions like politics mysticism is usually active rather than passive. Use of spirit in politics is universal but for many of us - at least in our day jobs - we need to combine it with conscious activity so switching and drifting off isn't an option at all.
I've never quite had the peace of mind and subconscious contentment to find meditation useful, though when I was younger I moved my offices at the Department of the Environment to outer London to get away from the distractions of Parliament and other politicians so I could concentrate and focus more without being disturbed. I also always kept a couch in my office to have the odd "power nap" if I needed it because of the nature of the job. But when I got into the Home Office I had to be back in Central London nearer the "source" of power and actually at Environment I was regarded as a bit of a simpleton and a weirdo who had "gone native" after the Rio Earth Summit (at least as far as the Tories were concerned) so I needed a better and more robust image to take on the challenge of the Home Office in 1993 and onwards.

Yes! Try and sneak 10-25 minutes daily. I love it!

I did. I probably should restart that because I'm a very highly strung person, and although I am good at getting me/alone time, I don't necessarily relax. I'm only a bit worried about falling asleep because I'm horrible at sleeping properly, another thing I should change.

Yup, every night in bed before I sleep.

I meditate quite a lot, but generally don't have the time to do it for more than 5 or 10 minutes. Before bed-time, however, I often need to clear my head a little because I have a lot of trouble falling asleep otherwise.

I'm getting back into the habit. I never was much good at it, so I'd always give up practicing. Now time, and privacy is a bit of an issue, but I try to do it in little intervals during the day when I get a few minutes to myself.
I also meditate before bed, but I end up falling asleep 99.9% of the time. I do Yoga some morning, which is gorgeous. I'm thinking of adding more meditation in after stretching though. My body is fatigued, so yoga is quite the strenuous exercise for me atm. lol

I now meditate, like other people have already suggested, before going to sleep. I find it helps me to unwind and switch off mentally, which in turn lets me get a good night’s sleep.
I do a kind of meditation during the day, as I have problems with freedom of movement I try and concentrate on what I am about to do, getting up, walking across an open space, climbing the stairs, etc., and I use a short mantra that I picked up here on MW and I find really works, “What the mind believes, the body achieves”, it helps me picture what I want to do and then convince my recalcitrant limbs do it; it seems to work too!
Like so many others my life is too busy and I’m surrounded (it seems) with so many distractions that I find prolonged periods of meditation almost impossible, but I seem to be achieving something with my current program so I’m going to persist with it.
