I just go to the mall and root around for cards with deer on them that say "Happy Holidays " or refer to 'the magic of the season"

also nice are ones with pictures of snowy forests, or animals wearing santa hats and other such silliness..also found of holy leaf motifs... there's lots of non-overtly Christian cards around, every where

This year I got some Inut prints of ravens carrying red scraves....

last year it was these dancing naked ladies... I think by Matise , I think,...I think i got them at an art museum sale... a few years back at the same lpace I got some with a detail of a deer from a tapestry

What Tanya said. :)

Also consider looking at blank cards that you can personalize - some of them are very festive.

I have a thing for the shiny, glittery cards with snowflakes on a silver background or somesuch that say things like "Happy holidays" or "Happy new year" or just refer to the holiday season or whatnot.

Though, I never buy them. They tend to be expensive and I need to use my money for other things like groceries...lol

I make my own cards - have been doing that since about 1985. Being a graphic artist comes in handy. Plus I make postcards to save on stamps.

One year I adapted a tarot card - the ten of cups - to a winter scene, another time I got an embossing plate of candles & holly and pressed that into thick gold cardstock. Some years the design is brazenly pagan, other times it's thought-provoking, like a haiku, or funny (the year I did the Buddha with a Santa hat on...)

I typically go the route Tanya suggested, but this year we sent out cards with our family pictures on them. They just say Peace on Earth and Happy Holidays with a pic of us and the kids.

I have a tradition of buying cards with stags, deer or reindeer on them. But I only get ones that say "Happy Holidays". I tried looking for something that mentioned Yule once and after going through what felt like a million boxes of cards I didn't find anything, so I just stick with my deer cards.

I tend to have leftovers (I never use a full box of cards) so I will slowly build up a nice collection of deer art in the process. :)

Yes I generally make my own or use natural/pagany themed store bought cards. Here is a link to a local artist who makes Pagan oriented cards and prints, using watercolour.

This link is for the winter season type cards, but browse around for her whole selection and pricing.

I've decided not to send out cards this year because I've decided that they're wasteful. Most people I know just throw them away and don't recycle them...

There are some sites, like care2.com, that have Yule themed e-cards. A couple of them are kind of cheesy, but I like them for the most part. I sent a few of those out.

Otherwise, I'd suggest making them. I'm biased and love handmade things. :)

One more thing that I wanted to add -

A few years ago, when I did search around for Yule cards, I had a terrible time finding them. There were some fantasy/new agey cards with a winter theme at the health food store, but they were expensive and the box only had a few cards in it.

I ran into the same problem online. Pagan cards tend to be packaged in small numbers and are very expensive.

Here's a selection of Yule cards from various pagan artists:

I generally don't send out cards because I shudder to think how many trees died to create all the ones that already get sent out. However, if I were to change my mind, I'd probably choose some of these.

For those of us who are conscious of the trees - there are TreeFree cards too - http://www.tree-free.com/front/
Love them ~

This year I wanted to be conscious of material use that goes into sending holiday cards. I decided to hand delivery as many as possible and to only use envelopes for mailings.

For the cards themselves, I folded some cardstock in half, then glued decorative tissue paper reminents. Looked like a decopauge collage! I then cut the large sized card into 4 smaller cards. I added some more embelishments.

They are bookmark sized. I punched a small hole near the fold and added a ribbon. Card/ornament/bookmark! My friends loved them!

Doing this saved me money on paper and stamps as well as using less paper.

My tastes run toward the more gothy side of things. This fellow has a nice set of cards available, along with other stuff

What a great idea!
