Total and utter bull-honky.
No bibliography, no references to any site other than their own, no evidence of actual research or case studies, and more importantly, no one else has heard of this virus they've made up either.
I know I know, it's all part of the vast "vampire conspiracy" to keep things quiet. Or perhaps, a vast conspiracy of White Wolf LARP'ers who desperately wish someone would come back and play in their campaign again.
I call shenanigans.

I've gotta agree with the Total and utter bull-honky and HORSEFUDGE! :goodgrief
They must be role-players or just totally ignorant of what vampirism is in reality.

What part of the Codex? A great deal of it didn't make sense to me either.

I don't remember, I just remember a lot of it coming off as self righteous drivel (I haven't read it in several years) and a lot of pseudo-mystical justification for said drivel.

What honestly bothered me most was the junk focused towards House Kheperu, though to be honest I read that it was written for her group mostly. The whole reincarnation of a group of temple stewards throughout centuries to always be vampiric and always find eachother just doesn't sit right with me these days though as a teenager I believed.

Wow, an idiot did an amazing job at making a webpage that seems legit...until you read that it is geocities and they don't link to any sources of any kind...complete crap, and I would know, I am a vampire (kind of)

I am perfectly willing to accept vampirism as a subcultural identity, or a persuasion of some kind, or whatever one might want to call it. But I'm sorry, I will not accept it as a "medical condition" until I see somebody with an M.D. actually call it such, with a detailed bibliography, or at least some kind of evidence, to back up their claim. Until then I am forced to dismiss such claims as the vampire equivalent to the Murray hypothesis.

there are medical conditions, such as anemia, where if you do this, it does help (the iron in the "victim's" blood) but it is never necessary and is always a choice...period.

Agh, I thought I had left the annoying vamp-bullshit behind when I got my energy levels under control.
I was wrong.
This one sounds like a plot to a really really bad (not omg it's so bad it's GOOD) movie.
I have run into people in the OVC that totally believe this though.

Good point. I've done some searching and I can't find any dependable information about this "V5 virus." In fact most of what comes up are discussions about it on vampire forums. There is also apparently a computer virus by the same name.
http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/cgi-bin/res.pl?keyword=V5+Virus&offset=0
The V5 Virus is a computer (http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/G_COMPUTER.HTM) virus which infects .COM and .EXE files including COMMAND.COM. The virus is loaded into memory by executing an infected program and then affects the computer's runtime operation and corrupts data files.
I'll let everyone know if my computer grows fangs anytime soon.
