Okay so I know that when dealing tarot cards and one slips out, it's supposed to be read but what if you have a whole small deck slip out?

I had that problem today but I have experience shuffling playing and tarot cards so I don't understand.

If I have a larger chunk of cards slip out (a quarter of the deck or more) I'll do the same reading with those cards after I finish the first reading.

Or if it is just a few cards that fall at once I interpret that pile for whatever position they were to fall in.

However if I have cards fall from the deck off the table or reading surface I ignore those cards for the reading I am in the process of doing.

Oh okay interesting. But what would cause such a huge slippage?

what causes the right cards to be selected in the first place?
depends on your view...

that tends to happen when I think or talk about something. It can be like an extra reading or another reading. Sometimes it is an error, but when it doesn't feel like it, it usually isn't a coincidence they fall.

On the topic of divination forms, what do you guys think of runes?

I find my runes are a wonderful and reliable method of divination.
(made them myself).

but they do take some getting used to.

anything that falls out of my deck and onto the floor, I just assume isn't to be part of the reading. If one or two fall out on the table I put them as the first positions of the reading. If I drop half the deck, well I pick them up again and consider myself clumsy for a moment.

That's pretty much what I was going to say! :yayah: I'd had one particular deck for almost 15 years. It's my favorite deck and I use it often. The cards are a little bigger than normal, so even after so much time, I still tend to get clumsy with them. When some fall out of the deck, I really just use my intuition to decide if I'm supposed to read them or if it was just me being clumsy.

Okay interesting. I was trying to give someone a tarot reading last night and for reason it didn't work out.

My fingers get stiff and fumble the cards at times. I don't view it as a sign, I just pick the cards up, put them back in the deck, and shuffle again. If the cards are supposed to be read, they'll come up in the spread.

Like Aranarose, if I feel it was me, then I don't pay attention. If it needs to be read--then I just know.

I do many times take into account the card at the bottom of the deck if I need additonal information and find that helpful.

For myself, if one or two cards fall from the deck during shuffling and the like, then I set them aside, and read them as... something of a footnote to the spread itself.
But I take into consideration whether my hands are achy and stiff, if the cards are slick, and all that, and if its too many cards, I don't do that.

I've referred to those cards that fall as jumpers - and usually I find them to be useful. Mostly they're just things that are on the peripheral that are affecting the question.

and sometimes, you just aren't feeling up to a reading - you and they aren't meshing well, you just aren't feeling insightful, etc. Everyone has bad nights - when readings just don't quite work the way that they usually do. A friend of mine took a break from her cards for several months, and only recently started up again - not saying that is always a solution, but I think its important to know when you can do a good reading and when you can't for one reason or another.
