hey all.
I'm only here because I'm a little confused at the moment and I'd like a bit of company online... um, terrible at introductions, so a brief summary of me:

I'm thoroughly English, I'm 16, college girl, I study English, History, Art and Latin and I hope to do History at Uni - I board at my all-girls' college (yes, all-girls'...), I'm currently single, I sell artwork, I'm a keen diary-writer and I have a few very close friends. I adore Umberto Eco, Foxtrot, Eddie Izzard, Monty P., Nerina Pallot and Lucien Freud, to name a few people and things.

On the religion front, I became very disillusioned with Christianity about half a year ago, for many reasons such as the complete divide between the Old and New Testament - tell me, how can you reconcile a God who was previously all out for one race of people, destroying others, and who is now supposed to be benevolent and neighbour-loving? I have also become disillusioned with some of my friends' complete faith in their belief without questioning or research. That disturbs me.

So basically, I believe in a God, well, a force - I have yet to decide into what that force is divided or united - and chance. Other than that, I guess all I believe in is me, really.

So, um, hi. Nice to join the party :) Any thoughts on my drivel?

:sunny:Hello and welcome!:sunny:
Being Jewish, I sometimes have a hard time with that myself. I have heard some interpertation about God having two states of mind, one calm, all knowing and meditative and one not so much. I would like to look more into that and find out exactly what it means.

God can be really confusing. . . I rememeber when I was little being obcessed. . . lol. Then again, I think it was because I had no friends, and they told me Jesus would be my friend forever. Talk about manipulating a little kid. . .^^;;

Yeah, I never much understood it. I wouldn't want some guy who likes to run around destroying cities and stuff to be my best friend, unless I was the kind of person who thought destroying cities was something really cool. I kinda feel sorry for Jesus, that he has such a violent dad, and yet he's such an awesome-sounding guy himself. I never thought about that "two frames of mind" thing. . . that would certainly explain a lot, wouldn't it! hehe :)

Welcome!! :) I'm sure you'll find some interesting things here!

Welcome

I consider myself a Christian Witch. In that God (God for me is an All....God and Goddess....with Spirit Guides and the Spirit Guides are sent to help us....be they faries or angles or power animals),
Oh, in that God created all of nature and through nature we find power and energies to use for the betterment of ourselves and our loves ones; never for harm.

Again, Welcome and happy hunting!

Hello and welcome!

A couple of words of wisdom from people who are a lot smarter than I am ;) :

The idea that there is one people in possession of the truth, one answer to the world's ills, or one solution to humanity's needs has done untold harm throughout history. ~UN Secretary General Kofi Annan receiving the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize

Do not see the full realization in one teaching, one phenomena, one body, one land, or one sentient being. You should see the full realization everywhere, in all places. ~The Buddha

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe. ~John Muir

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead. ~Louisa May Alcott

With that in mind, I wish you happy searching!
