Well today I was outside with getting my laundry in and I saw these two dogs under my truck. One was about the size of a Cocker Spanial but he had long hair and one ear stood up and the other flopped over, he was cute mutt. the other one was a very little poodle. She couldn't have been longer than a foot. Neither one had collars and were very friendly.
Drove them around the neighborhood for awhile, stopping and asking people if they had seen them before. No one had :( My mom came home and told me to forget about them and come inside. I went inside for a while, I couldn't stop thinking about them. We went to go take the garbage off and they were under the truck again and they wouldn't come out. I had to pick the little poodle up so my mom didn't accidentaly run over her. We left and when we came back they were next door. They didn't see us come in. We haven't seen them since. Some one had to have dropped them off. They do that alot around here.
I'm so sad. If they come back, I'm going to have to take them to the pound because I don't want to see them get hurt around here. I hate the pound, but they're both cute dogs so maybe someone will adopt them. I hope they don't come back. I hope the Gods watch over them and let them find their way back home or to someone elses home that could take care of them. I can't because of the dog I already have. (she doesn't like other animals)
Ok I feel alittle better now that I've gotten that off my chest. Still sad though. I hate how people think they can just dump dogs off like they were trash. :flamer:

I know how you feel, Dragon. On Midsummer's Eve, I was at a friend's house for a party. She lives by the freeway, and around seven or eight we heard a pathetic mewing coming from the other side of her fence, right next to the freeway. Since we're not too good at jumping over fences, we recruited her brother to hop over and rescue the cat. It turned out to be this teeny kitten, probably no more than eight weeks old. Everyone at the party really wanted to take her home, but couldn't because of other animals or parents who hated them. My friend decided to keep it, since their dogs are pretty cool. Unfortunately, they were selling their house and her mom didn't want another animal. Even worse, we couldn't find anyone to take the kitten, not even the shelters around us. My friend's mom ended up taking her to the animal warden in our town, even though we didn't really want him to take her. Luckily, the dispatcher at the police station was looking for a cat, or I don't know how long the cat would have lasted.
The point of this story is, of course, that animals are cute and people who abandon them on the freeway are stupid. :D

Ok well found out this afternoon that the dogs belonged to a new couple down on a road that runs kinda close to ours. The owners came by looking for them and I went and tried to find them. Still haven't found the little guys. We think someone picked them up.
Because we get so many people out here dumping dogs we didn't relize that they were someones. I feel alittle sad now. I think i may go drive around some in the morning just to check one more time.

I hope the dogs are found soon. That is so sad. But especially when in a new area, dogs should be leashed and collared, at least until they can get their boundaries set. Dogs should be collared and licensed anyway. It is illegal not to be. And my dog is never allowed outside unleashed if I am not with her.

They didn't have tags. The owners said that they got out of a hole in the fence.
Yeah we usualy get at least one abandoned dog a year now. Its gotten better. In the past it was much worse. Its getting better because more people live out here now. But that just means the people haven't stopped dumping them, they've just found better places. :(

It makes me so mad and sad to see things like this happen. I live in a rural area and people are always dropping off dogs here. They drive out from the city and just leave them. Do they not understand that these animals have feelings too????
All they want is to be loved and have a friend, someone to pet and care for them. I wind up bringing alot of them home with me and finding homes for them when possible (which highly upsets my husband!) at one point I had 30 dogs/puppies and 5 cats but managed to find homes for all but 2 or 3 which I kept myself. I cannot help it, I love animals and to me they are like children, they love unconditionally and are only looking for the same in return.
My husband now refers to me as "Ellie Mae" after the character on the Beverly Hillbillies (for those of you who remember that show) He says if it was up to me we would have a zoo of animals on the 5 acres we own....ya know something... I think he's right!;)

They came back last night. My dad asked them this afternoon. One of the people they had asked if they had seen the dogs gave them a sure fire way to get them to come home if there still in the area.
(use at night)
First he said to get a peice of clothing of the dogs favorite person. But it can't have been washed since the last time it was worn. Put it outside on the porch. He said that they can smell it for 2 miles. His mom told him it and it actually worked. The owners woke up and they were on the back porch.
I know how you feel Nissala, its sad that people think they can throw away animals. My neighbors are the ones around here that usualy take the animals in, but they've got a few now and can't afford any more. I'm glad these two turned out to have homes.

It's good that they came back, I am happy. Around here, it's not so much a matter of the dogs being homeless, usually animals gte hit by cars, and then no one bothers to try and find the owners of the animals in the neighborhood... my first cat got hit by a car once and came hobbling home on a fractured pelvis and a bunch of scratches and stuff... the second time, he wasn't so lucky. Someone had hit him right in front of my house and I discovered him in the morning before school :(
Earlier today my boy found a cat that was hit by a car, so he and his mom took it to an animal hospital... and I think it might be ok. :p At least some people care...
