With the ongoing discussion of Ouija boards and experiences I though about what does one do to prepare thier space for usuage of said Ouija board.

In the most basic form I was taught to lay a circle of salt about the board. Sometimes the salt would be laid under the board as well. Never really understood why salt but it was a given. Sometimes one might say a prayer or incantation to protect the space. Many times the area was surrounded by lit candles or other flame source. I say other for I have seen lamps or oil lamps used. Yet it did resemble a seance somewhat for the board was centered between the people who would use it. The board being rotated inside the ring of salt.

But of all the things we did the most important was the passage threw smoke. Many times the area was filled with a smoke substance like sage or some other smoking item. I've used cedar and pine but they burn my eyes and throat now. The smoke acted like a barrier that filled everything but also confused the spirit to the pathway they might take. It hid your spiritual fiber yet purified as well.

Almost like insence in that it cleansed but did not hide or fog the room or area. It was almost as if the smoke became a skin upon our skin and kept us from actually touching or being touched.

Just curious as to what others may do though.

We did sage and salt. Also, I think we had candles....worked out just fine.
