Marry meet to all my brothers and sisters!
I need you to shed some light on this issue, I' ve been having ambivalent thoughts about exposing my pentacle to the sight of others . Should I keep it for myself and wear it underneath my clothes? On the other hand I'm proud of it and makes me feel good and protected and just like Christians like to show off their crosses, why shouldn't I do the same with my pentacle? Then if I do so, will it get charged with people negative looks? Will I have to be cleaning and charging my "poor" pentacle frantically?
Being in or out of the broom closet doesn't trouble me at all, 'though I do not wish to outrage anybody at the sight of my pentacle (it's small but it looks VERY esoteric).Well, I guess you know what I mean wether you agree or not, so don't skip this message and HELP ME MAKE UP MY MIND,PLEASE!!!!
With lots of love,
Mooseheart
If you've read this far you're just wonderful.Love & Peace!

That is something you really have to choose on your own, however there are somethings to consider. The public display of your pentacle is like coming out of the broom closet. You should consider what that will mean to yourself and others. Of course if you are secure in what you are and that you will not be censured, by all means, wear it on the outside.

I have a pentacle that I wear 24/7, I can't take it off, nor would I want to, but it does reside under my shirtsleeve most of the time. I am not sure about Europe, but I do know that there are parts of the US that would not react well to your display of the pentacle  that is sad, but true.

You must follow your spirit with this one and know that there are times and places when you can wear it out and other times and places when it should be tucked in to your shirt.

for a very very long time, I don't wear a pentacle. I just grew not to need / like it

I have a very favorite silver chain on which I hang a silver acorn and a silver oak leaf! But that is just me

I did wear a pentacle for a very long while and I wore it out of my clothes and in my clothes

I wear it for me, so I didn't HAVE to have ti visible. IT will protect you even if it is in your clothing. Well, IT really doesn't do anything, but rather represents something to you. Even if yo uceased wearing it altogheter, it would still protect you..

It will not be "charged" with negative from people looking at you like you ahve 5 heads! :D

Just my thoughts

Thank You, Xios. <Kiss on the forehead.>

Xios has made a very good point, you wear it for you, the same as my tattoo is for me, it represents something to me.

Thanx a lot for your thoughts, it made sense for me to compare it with a personal/private tattoo, (I only show mine when I wear a bikini...). Here in Spain, nobody will think I'm an evil worshiper , which is nice...Rather than that, some people will think I'm ready to hex aybody anytime..Oh well...By the way, how do you manage to put smilies on your messages?

Two tattoos? I just love meeting my fellow painted people.

Smilies? Well, it depends on your browser, mine shows a little box of smilies to the right of the reply box, but if yours does not, you can go to http://www.mysticwicks.com/misc.php?s=&action=showsmilies and it should give you the codes, there should be a shortcut to this above the reply area where it says, "Posting Rules.: just click on the word "Smilies"

I agree with Blue and Xois...if you feel you need to wear it freely then do so proudly, if not then wear it where only you know it's there. Sometimes that changes on a daily basis for me. For the most part I do not wear one, but I do intend on having one tattooed on my back. Where I work everyone knows I'm a witch but I have a lot of sales contact with others and feel it may jade someone and make me lose a sale if I were to publicly display it on the job. Although we all know it is wrong to judge others by their religion I'd be kidding myself if I thought it wouldn't influence my paychecks!

PS- the smiley faces should be there to click on when you post a meesage. I'm no computer whiz  but they are easy to use, unless you're having trouble and they are not showing up on your screen. Which is very common lately.;)

:D By all means, wear your pentacle if you so desire.
But be ready for tirade after tirade, yada, yada, yada.
As the others said, there will be times to wear it out,
and times to wear it inside. Narrow minds can't focus.

I have a pentacle I wear that I very seldom take off, sometimes it's inside my shirt sometimes it's out, depends on the cut of the shirt. I get the occasional remark about it but I just ignore them, just like the ones I get about my tattoos. If you want to wear one, then I say go for it.

My husband just recently got one and was going to wear it out of his shirt to the library. So we had a disscussion over it.

His point was he has nothing to hide and is proud to be Pagan. This is great, no arguments from me. He won't wear it at work either because he knows it might lose his clients, they have a minister on the payrole,.

My points were plentiful though. Discrimination is big and he has never experienced it, white male, and he doesn't want to on religious grounds (weak point, I know). I have heard it mentioned some people have had Childrens Protective Services investigate someone because they were Pagan and someone called on them(very big point, my kids come first). You don't need to wear it out (like stated elswhere above) its for you only and where we live it would be a big shock maker and he loves to stir up things, I hate it.And probably my biggest reason was if someone discriminated against him or started preaching to him he was not informed enough to defend himself, since we are both seekers and he knows little, and our kids.

I know I'm a big worrier and you may flame as you please. I also know he will be able to defend himself one day and will wear it out and I will have to deal with it whether I agree or not. I might too for that matter. I think time and place are a big factor to decide when you can wear it out and how much knowledge you have and feel confident with.

While the pentacle isn't part of our Tradition, I do wear one around my neck, and have one on a finger, as an expression of myself and the connectedness of All Things.

I'm one of those people, I don't give a rats-butt what other people think about what I do, where I go, or what I wear. I'm comfortable in my own skin, and that's the most important thing for any of us.

If someone has a problem because my pentacles are "out", that's their problem, not mine.

I've always been of the mind that I don't care if people see my pentacle -- I don't want to be with or work with people who won't accept me for who I am.

I have a pentacle necklace that is just short enough that it's almost always out of my shirt... and I have a pentacle ring that I haven't gone a day without wearing for 4 years..... until today, that is.

I've been trying very, very hard to get a job lately... and I've found that I am very aware of my pentacle ring during the interviews that I go on.. So I'm hiding my hands most of the time...
Today I decided that I just wouldn't wear my ring. It was a very hard decision, and nearly painful for me to make....

But I've realized that, while it's unfortunate, if I want to get a job, I can't give my interviewers any reason to not like me.

Despite all my past beliefs of not wanting to work with people who won't accept me, I found that the need for a job was greater than my pride. And discrimination is out there....even if it's not active.... a lot of the time it's a subconscious thing in people....

Anyway.....

The point I want to make is: go ahead and wear your pentacle, and wear it proud. But be aware that it will bring you out of the closet, and a lot of people will discriminate against you because of your pentacle, and you'll never know it. You have to decide if you care or not.

I have a nice pentacle in relief on a quarter sized piece of silver which I wear on a chain under my shirt. It reminds me of my oath and I feel no need to hide nor expose it for all to see.

Unfortunately there are idiots who think the pent represents Satan and devil worship, not realizing that for centuries it was referred to as the seal of Solomon and used by the Christian church. As with other Christian items it was 'borrowed' from pagans and destroying it's original meanings, used it to represent the five wounds of their saviour. Satanists as always simply reversed the Christian symbol and said it represented the devil's face. Kind of like the inverted cross. Well I warned you, we Dragons do tend to ramble, Hee,hee.

I don't wear a pentacle, my parents don't like the symbol. Well, my mother doesn't, my father doesn't know what it is. lol
However, I do wear a Yin Yang, not for "retro" looking reasons. It represents a part of what I believe in. That, in ever dark there is light, and in every light there is dark. You can substitute good and evil for light and dark I suppose. But I prefer it that way. Sometimes I wear peace signs...which gets as misinterpreted as the Yin Yang...lol :D Sometimes I also wear different "ancient" symbols. And, I'm always seen carrying a book about Wicca, Paganism, Ancient History, Magick, you name it....lol So, I'm not really afraid to look like a Pagan. However, I am not really out of the broom closet.
I present a very....different look. Have you ever looked at someone and knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that they were a Pagan, or at least a witch. Well, most people can tell about me. I've been told, I have that kind of "aura".
Sorry for the babbling. 8O

You have to follow your heart but I would make sure you aren't living in what we call the Bible belt or something similar. You may come under serious attacks if you live in a predominantly Christian or Catholic...
