Here's a question...
Why is the United States willing to risk a war with China by supporting Taiwan? Why then, has the US refused to support Tibet in their ascertation that they are their own country? I have come to the conclusion that it is because of the "almighty dollar". Support for Taiwan would strengthen the possibility of better trade between the US and this "valuable" country. Since Tibet has no such financial trapings, the US ignores it's pleas for help. What are your thoughts about this?

Can you say, "Ka-CHING?" Tibet's "KA-CHING" is not loud enough and now with the $$$$$ filters on the eyes and ears of the administration I fear voices like Tibet will be even harder to hear.

The problem is that Tibet doesn't export much at all, so we have no use for them (government's mentality). Most of Tibet is wide open space, mountains, and monsteries. Every government is hypocritical and makes mistakes....however, some do it more often that others. We are driven by money as a society.
It's unfortunate....Dhali Lama is still exiled out of his own country....but we don't have anything to say about that eh? Not to mention that we are doing this very thing to about a dozen other countries. Denying protection because they can't pay us back for it with goods. :mad:Example: All of West and Central Africa.

I could ask the same why everyone was so quick to jump to the rescue of Kuwait and yet when the East Timorese appeal to everyone for help because of the killing of their people by the Indonesians, the US didn't want to get involved. It comes down to the question... who has the oil? Or the uranium? Or the trade they want? MONEY IS EVERYTHING. Human rights? What are they?
I realise that the US (or even the UN) can't be everywhere at once, and the US is definitely not the country of "peace keeping" but it's just sad that they will involve themselves in SOME situations and not others, and like my mum always says - "if they get involved there's always something they are getting out of it". And that's the sad truth.
Frankly I'm surprised that the US would risk conflict with China. One would think they'd benefit more by being "friends" with China, more than enemies. Maybe Bush is just looking for a reason to send Americans to war. It's not like his father hasn't done it in the past.

That's one of the things I hate about the patriarchal
system...the way young men are conditioned to believe
that war is glorious:mad: and they die for the greed
of the RICH...the old men send the young men to die
for nothing. How many 17-18 year olds died in Vietnam,
and for what? Capitalist Greed!
