Chat Room Howto

To get there using COTSE

1 -- http://webmail.cotse.com/JavaIRC/
2 -- click on link that says "click here" under "Open the chat window"
3 -- click "yes" when the applet wants to install
4 -- Change Nickname from "guest" to your desired nickname
5 -- Change Channel from "Cotse" to "mysticwicks"
6 -- Change Sever name from "irc.cotse.com" to "irc.weblook2k.com"
7 -- Click "connect now"

To get there using mIRC

1 -- open mIRC
2 -- at the mIRC Options screen change IRC Network to "EFnet" and click okay
3 -- Choose "Connect" from the File menu
4 -- after a bunch of noise, the mIRC Channels Folder should pop up, type #mysticwicks in the box and click "join." (If this window doesn't pop up automatically, choose
"Join Channel" from the Commands menu and do same.)

Uh in between 2 and 3 you'll want to fill in the text fields there, Full Name, Email Address, Nickname and Alternative. If you don't fill them out sometimes nothing happens.

Myst, I considered those download instructions since it's only the first time and that's why I excluded them. If I was doing the whole mIRC download instructions they would have been waaaaay tooo long. :)

. . . Unless other people are having to do this more than just the first time?

I can get on efnet, logged in as sammy because skye is already taken, but I can not see or talk with anyone

what am I doing wrong?

I can't get my IRC to connect to Efnet...no matter what I try :/

Just so the COTSE users know, it seems like they aren't allowing anyone to choose which server you log into anymore. Regardless of what you try to define it will take you to one of their servers.

Just a heads up.

i dont know if anyone knows this, on irc, you can use the irc.weblook2k.com link and connect that way if you can't connect efnet. maybe i'm just behind the times ;)
