Well since having Lilia, some 12 weeks early. My family is leaning towards the fact that we may have a genetic disposition to have premature babies, when it comes to the females of our family.
You see, my paternal grandmother had twin girls, three months premature, and they died not long after they were brought home from the hospital, after spending 3 months in hospital.
Then there's my father, who had myself and my sister prematurely. I was 14 weeks early, my sister 6 weeks early.
Then there's Lilia who came 12 weeks early.
My dad's brother, has a daughter and a son. We are currently not sure if his daughter came early or not ... but still it makes for pretty scary odds.
I'd love to ask my grandmother if she knows why her twins came early, but I believe it may be a sore spot, particularly with my grandfather, who doesn't relate well to babies. We think but we're not certain that he feels responsible for his daughters' deaths. So the topic is rarely brought up.
