Most of the information I've read about making these tell you use a raw form of the stone but is it possible to get results from a polished or carved stone if a raw specimen is not available?

sometimes a raw stone is more harmful. malachite is one stone that is sometimes told not to use as it has copper in it. while others will say to use only the polished variety. Outside of health issues. it's a matter of choice.

There are many crystals that don't take well to immediate immersion in water or are potentially harmful in their raw form. Putting them in a glass bowl before you put them in the water, so that they don't touch the water itself, usually takes care of that little problem.
It is highly possible to receive good results with polished or carved stones. I have very few crystals in a raw form, because I prefer to put them in my pockets and it is quite annoying to feel their pointy bits stick into my legs. :rotfl:I do not believe it matters what version you use for as long as the stone feels right to you.

Thanks! I've been wondering about this for a long time now!
