For those of us who have cable, the Science Channel (http://science.discovery.com) has started re-running Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" (http://science.discovery.com/convergence/cosmos/cosmos.html) on Tuesday nights. The first one was last night, but they're running it, oh, about a million more times in the coming week (http://science.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=48.15336.114617.29708.1). Subsequent installments will run at 9:00 pm Eastern time, every Tuesday for the next 12 weeks.
My wife and I watched the first part last night, and it has now become our standing date for Tuesday nights. It is, essentially, a 13-hour love song to What Is. It is beautiful. We watched it snuggled under a blanket, drinking mead, and it took an almost ritual tone. It felt like church for Pantheists.
Catch an installment or two if you can. I think you'll be glad of it.
