View Full Version : Intolerance - Enough Already!

There has always been more than enough intolerance to go around. Then recently there was Tempest Smith, the 13 yr old Detroit girl who committed suicide ( WitchVox article (http://www.witchvox.com/homepages/hp_2001/hp_20010312.html) ).
Now I have just read about another incidence of intolerance against a young girl in high school due to her wiccan leanings. The article was in the April 2001 issue of 'Seventeen' magazine. She has been ostrasized (sp?) by classmates and twice suspended from school based on rumors alone. I wish there was an appropriate way to let her know she is not looked down on by everyone, but cherished by many. She appeared to be bearing up under the pressure. I send her blessings and good luck in seeing things through to a better time.

There will always be intolerance, and violence as
long as right-wing nutbars like Dubya, Fox, Day,
Hanson, and many others are in power, or have an
influence of power.
They all need to be deposed and permanently exiled.

Intolerance is an ugly thing no matter where you find it. The problem with some of these people is, while some of them are really genuine in their desire to do what they think is help, there are many others who discover a certain measure of power in their actions and they exercise that power over anyone who fits a certain profile.
Hopefully life will teach them something and they will be aware enough to see the lesson.

I guess this is one of the many reasons that many remain in the broomcloset. I know I could never tell some people what I believe because I know I would not be able to stand the torment they would put me thru because of it. It doesn't make my beliefs any less valid just harder to share with others.

I wish her the best and will be sending her postive vibes. (none of us is ever truly alone if we think about it--we have our dieties with us!)

about the politicians, i wouldn't like to lose a friend ship over politicians but while i'm "right conservative" i trust the whole lot of them, left or right, no further than i can throw them into the wind. there is this, the u.s. media has a pronounced leftist slant and while they tried hard to gloss over and make light of clinton's blunders and in some cases out right crimes they will be on bush like ugly on an ape, he is not and will not enjoy the "favored son" status given clinton and he is well aware of that and will conduct himself accordingly. the positive side of the new crowd down here is that from appearances so far there is rather more respect for the law as it is written than has been the case previously, recently there has been a notorious tendency to think "the law is what we say it is" and no society can survive that for long. in the long run we will survive the politicians of whatever stripe as long as we can hold them accountable to the law. with continuing respect and friendship.

Many of the left-wing parties have gone the way of
the right-wing.
However, the mainstream medias have a right-wing
slant, endorsing the Shrub, Stockwell Day in Canada,
Fox in Mexico, Pauline Hanson in Australia, the neo-
Nazi leader in Austria.....while largely ignoring those of
the true left....fighting corporate greed and destruction
of Mother Earth.
The patriarchy :heartthro's right-wingers, because they
then can pull the strings and get their way...GM foods,
destruction of the environment for short-term profits,
violations of human rights, etc.
With a Goddess/Matriarchal society there would be no
need for government, money, or any of the other
patriarchal trappings.
