I was watching Monster Quest on History channel and this was the first time that I heard about these. So I wanted you to go here
(hope it works) http://www.history.com/minisite.do?content_type=Minisite_Generic&content_type_id=56211&display_order=5&mini_id=56117

and watch the video named unidentified flying creatures. Then vote and tell your view on what you saw and what you think about it.

I personally don't know what to think, it can be so many things. But I do know that it's nothing familiar to us or anything distorted.

Hmm. Some of them looked like they could just be bugs, but others were really weird. I'm no camera expert, or bug expert, so I don't know. I've never heard of rods either. Weird.

Well that special goes on to show that they are just effects of fast things on the cameras. They pretty much showed that they are generally just multiple images of the same thing according to the show. They even went so far as to try and catch some on film. They did, and the object turned out to be a moth.

Never in my life heard of these or seen them, interesting to say the least. I want to say they look like dragon flies big ones and then some looked like flat worms the ones that swim in the ocean or ribbon worms whatever you want to call them.

I saw that too but something just wasn't right about it. I could see how the multiple image thing would do with the small ones, but the big ones? I mean some of them had actual light shining on them and they were like a copper color and not like a multiple image.

The moth thing really bothered me too. I mean true you see it on the fast moving camera, but I think it was the fact that everything was black and the moth appeared white. Not to mention the moth was in the shot a lot longer before the rod even showed. I can only think that the moth was white because of the light but if you looked at the rod it looked like it had it's own light or something.

Also I think that on the fast moving camera the moth was the only detailed thing that showed up. There was a whole lot flying by why didn't it pick that up as well? Just some thoughts as I watched the show yesturday. I could be wrong that the moth was the only one, but it's what I remember seeing.

Personally, I think they may be like..a new kind of Dragonfly maybe...or maybe some sort of centipede or worm grew wings? I'm not sure. It's probably new species of insect though. It would've been neat if they're tried to catch them.

I'm seeing many people saying that they are bugs. And I agree that it would be cool to catch them, but the thing that I find interesting is that the people that caught them on film with the jumping didn't even notice them until the tape was rewatched. Then again they also said that humans back when would be able to see them better than us today because our eyes have been messed with by television and computers.

They also showed a tape of an ape at the zoo following a rod as it moved across the screen and nobody else saw it. Not to mention they had found drawings of some on walls too, probably how they came up with the eyes thing ^_^.

True, it might be 'cause our eyes are screwed up these days (though I try to remedy that as much as possible by navigating the house with no lights, and reading with glow in the dark bracelets (they're not very bright).

I'm not saying I'm ruling out that maybe they're creatures from Otherwhere, that's truly possible...they could be a creature of faerie maybe.

If they're not new kinds of Dragonflies, that would be my second bet.

They don't look like rods until after the video is watched. People don't notice the bugs everywhere, then when they catch them on film they notice they look like rods of light..but trust me they're insects. The insects move quickly across the view of the camera, the camera can't keep up to decipher what is moving across the screen and the insect comes off looking like a rod of light.
