I'm really pretty new at this and keep feeling pulled all over the place. Kali, Aphrodite, Artemis and Hecate have all called loudly to me - sort of jumping into my life as and when they please. So far they've ALL been very good to me and since they've all seemed impressively powerful, I'm too scared to try avoiding them!

The only God that's ever truly called to me was Djehuty - going RIGHT back to my teacher's weary attempt at teaching us about Ancient Egypt at school. Occasionally I feel quite fond of Ynepu, but the draw to him (and any Goddess) has NEVER been quite as strong as to Djehuty.

Since I don't really follow any tradition/path (sometimes I worry I'm even pushing the boundaries of "Eclectic"!) I'm not really sure what to do next... it feels like every time I study, I get drawn somewhere else. I do feel quite unbalanced at the moment - all these Goddesses, but I've never been drawn to another God. Should I spend more time researching Gods to feel a better sense of balance or should I follow my heart, stop worrying and wait for something to call to me?

I think it'd be a good idea to read up more on the ones who have called you so far, but to not get involved in any more deity-related stuff until you feel more balanced with the calls that you've received already. I, too, was drawn to various Goddesses but little Gods when I first started my own pathwalk... time and patience mixed with studying has settled my mind in that matter and now I know that what the deities represent to me is far more important than their supposed gender.

Good luck!

Hey there...first off, I've requested that this one be moved over to the gods & goddesses forum. since it's about deities.

Second of all...I wouldn't worry too much about having odd number of gods and goddesses calling you. As you learn more, you may find that thigns balance out, some may only stick around for a short time, or be of intermittent presence...in the words of the esteemed Billy Joel, "...so many faces in and out of my life, some will last, some will just be now and then..."

It's really not very common for people to find their deities in matched pairs, and very often the deities we worship...it has nothing to do with their gender, but with who/what they are, and over what spheres they hold sway. I know that I myself worship apollo very closely, and Dionysus in very recent times. Hermes is starting to edge a bit closer. The goddesses that I worship- Leto, Asteria, Hestia and Polyhymnia, with the exception of Polyhymnia, are very much....hmm..."at arm's length", not particularly close. And Polyhymnia is an occasional, though considerably closer than the other goddesses. If the goddesses were gods and the gods goddesses, I doubt that it would beany different for me.

I would, however, suggest learning a bit about the history, traditions and cultural contextsof these deities.

I got called by Artemis relatively early in my path, when I was still in the "Everything's interesting!" stage. Working with her helped me to get some direction. I never was a Hellenist, but I did end up focusing a lot on animal magic and neopagan totemism! If Djehuty is calling to you, try talking to him. He may have some interesting insights, if not into what path you should take, then at least why the attraction to him is there. Keep studying other things as well. While my practice has always focused on animal magic, I delved into Chaos magic for a few years and found it to be quite useful.

As to having a pairing, IMO it's not necessary. The "You must have a Goddess and a God" thing comes primarily from misinterpretations of the duotheistic structure of Wicca. While I have worked with a number of deities over the years, no male God had really taken as strong a place in my life as Artemis, until last year, when the Animal Father (a personal deity) came forth.

Everyone's path is different--there's no such thing as a one size fits all religion. Take your time, focus on what you do know interests you, but don't close yourself off from other possibilities.

Well for starters, slow down!
There is no rush to find your feet and a deity. This stuff takes time. It was only a few onths ago that I finally accepted the call of my deities.

I suggest you read up on all the deities in question, and the rest of their pantheon and the culture they come from. That should help!

Cheers for the answers :D
Studying them is something I'm really into at the moment - I love having something that inspires me to study for a few hours a day :D Good advice about not rushing too - I always promiced myself I wouldn't rush anything, but I guess I get carried away sometimes!
