This thread is in honor of dumb cats. I would love to hear all stories of the silly, dumb and/or crazy things you cats do.
OK , me first, since my dumb cat prompted this thread.
We have open rafters in our basement. I am down there, throwing in a load of laundry. I hear helpless mewing from the rafter. There is Merlin, up in the rafters, stuck. Not trapped in amy way, just stuck and couldn't get down. He kept walking back and forth, trying to jump, but obviously way too scared to. I had to build the cat a tower of boxes so he could jump down. The washing machine is maybe 3-4 feet from the rafter. I had to make a tower on top of the machine that was about 1 foot from him! And I thought cats were jumpers :p

heya :)
Well..as of right now, we have 6 cats. All of which have found interesting things they enjoy doing that totally make you go "what the heck are you doing?!?!?!?!?!?!"
Merlin is our oldest. He's the one that will roll around outside in dirt, on purpose, the second he sees you coming to get him from the drive way (not cool if I'm in white!) And when he wants out, he sits at the door, cries a few times. If that doesn't work, he RINGS THE BELL on the door to be let out. He'll actually sit there and claw at the bell thats on the front door handle JUST so someone will come over and open the door. LOL

I had a cat a few years ago that jumped into an open toilet. The poor thing was so upset that she just sat there and sulked. :)

My one cat, Kelly, used to jump at a wall in my living room that is bare brick and cling there with all four paws before jumping off and running laps around the house. But she's thirteen now, and hasn't done that in a while.
The middle one, Sushi, used to jump in the tub when someone just took a shower and lick up the water left over.
The youngest, Joker, likes to hide behind the towels we hang on the bannister near the steps and swat people in the head as they go upstairs. He's tried to jump *on* people's heads once or twice too.

We brought our new Dalmation home and introduced him to the cats. Lestat wanted nothing to do with a dog and ripped into the dogs nose right off. Welll the next day the dog got his revenge... Domino comes in to find Lestat under the dinning table hissing. Domino looks innocently at me ... whins once and lifts his leg and proceds to pee all over Lestat.(who never ran away just sat there with this shocked look on his face while the dog peed on him.) Needless to say they have never gotten along .

My cat that I had when I was a kid used to run around the house and the funniest thing he would do, would be turn on and off the hall light with his back claws.
My cat now, Toby, just runs all around the house at nite. He sleeps all day to save up his energy for his nite time romps, I swear. Plus, I have to dopey dogs and he lies in wait for them every time they come in. Right in the middle of the floor!! He waits for them to step on him then tries to bite their legs. He's an odd fellow.

I have 10 cats, so I guess I'm the dumb owner LOL
They're alla bunch of freaks, but my one cat, Cashew, would freak out at any spot on the wall, so I got the big idea to stick some tape on a penny and stick it on the wall, and she would leap up at it ( I would put it high up) and go nuts til she got it down.
Also, my husband and I listen to metal music, and my cat Midnight, was so damn funny because as soon as the music was on, this cat would start his own mosh pit, he would just run in circles and flip over and run back and forth, until he wore himself out. I though maybe the music was bothering him at first, but I would turn it off and he'd just look at me, like, turn it up chick! :)
plus I have a cat, Storm, who enjoys vegetables, guess thats my vegan cat.
Now that they're all getting older, they are a bunch of hairy lumps.
nice life :D

My parents kittie, Clouseau... when he was a kitten, was a complete nutter. I was taking a bath once, and I had my eyes closed and I hear this splash.. and Clouseau is swimming around in my bathtub!! When I used to blow dry my hair, he would get up on the sink and try to get his face in the way. He LOVED to be blowdried. He would rub up against my blush brush... getting leftover blush all over his face. LOL And he doesn't meow... all he does is do this little pitiful, "me... me ... me"... it's hilarious.
Now that he's gotten older, he just sits there and stares. It really freaks my dad out LOL My dad will be sitting in the recliner and he'll look down and Clouseau will be staring at him. He'll keep doing it for hours. My dad will put his foot in the way, so Clouseau can't see him.. and the cat will just lean *really* far in one direction... and keep staring. Crazy cat.

I have two dumb cat stories for ya. My family had one of thoses wicker shades with the pull cord like blinds have. Well it was pet safe in that my cat couldn't get her head stuck but she was batting it around when she released the mechanism to close the shade. well she had several claws stuck in the cord and it pulled her up. We found her dangling with just her back paws on the ground. She looked so frustrated we just all bust up laughing at her. Then when she went out she always pawed at the door to get back in. Well I was just geting out of the shower and looked out at the door and I saw her paw stuck to the screen. She wasn't even struggling anymore. She just gave up and decided to wait it out. I looked down at her and she was just standing there with one front leg reaching up hanging by one claw.
Oh I have one more. My other kitty was about nine months old when this happened. We lived in an appartment and the cat box was in the bathroom. Well I was taking a shower with the door cracked open and the cat came in to take a dump(sorry gross) when I slipped. I didn't fall but I made a splash noise catching my balance. Well that scared the cat so bad he flew out of the boxed and flew out the bathroom door and cracked his rear end on the door and left a big smudgy. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even tell my hubby what happen and I didn't even mind cleaning it up.
Oh and one my sister told me of her kitty. My Bro in law came home in a rush late for some appointment. He flew up the stairs to the bedroom and the cat came to full attention after snoozing on the edge of the bed. He sat there watching Roy(BIL) digging through the dresser looking for something. Well he found whatever and took off running again and the cat freaked and bolted ahead of him. The both went running down the stairs at full spead. Roy late for whatever and the hysterical cat ahead of him wondering what the heck they were running from. Well Roy didn't stop running he just kept barreling through the living room dining room and kitchen with the cat still running ahead of him. Well by the time they got to the kitchen the poor cat was so scared he piddled all the way through the kitchen and into the bathroom tub where he stood shaking and finished peeing. Roy said it was so funny he laughed the whole way to the appt.

:rotfl: Cats are hilarious animals, aren't they?
I got a couple too... :)
When my big old grumpy cat wants a drink of water, she jumps up onto the counter beside the sink in the bathroom, where we have a water dish set aside for her, so we don't have to have the tap water running all the time. (We also have a water dish beside her food dish, but she won't drink out of that one. ) Anyway, one time when I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth before bed, Cat came in and jumped up on the counter and meowed at me like "I'm thirsty!", but I was too busy brushing my teeth to bother refilling up her dish. Then, for some reason, or another, she decided to go lick the bar of soap!! 8O
Another time, when we first moved into this house, the last step on the front staircase in front of the house was wood. So when my dad decided to make a concrete step, Cat was crawling under it while dad was putting down the cement. *After* he was done, he heard the cat meowing, and had to dig out a bunch of cement to get the cat out from under there. Needless to say, he wasn't impressed with her just then.
Cat's a real fraidy cat. One time I clapped my hands b/c I saw something funny on TV, and Cat, who was on the floor in the living room shot straight up in the air. I don't think I've ever seen her jump that high.
And for my Baby Cat... She chases everything from toes to newspaper. When my mom, dad & brother were on vacation, I was with the kitten alone in the house, she would climb up the back of my leg when I was walking anywhere. Other times, you could get her to jump after a piece of string, or a ball or whatever, and since she wasn't paying attention to where she was going, about 10% of the time, she'd jump right into the coffee table. :( Also, she was playing with a newspaper or something one time, and got so frusterated with it, trying to beat it up and such, that she started chewing on her own back foot!
When you put both my cats together.. *shakes her head slowly* It's not pretty. Cat is old and grumpy and really doesn't like the kitten around her, but the kitten always wants to play, so she's always chasing Cat's tail. It's not exactly a dumb cat story, but it's cute none the less..
And, here's Cat....

What great stories!!! I think the Domino/Lestat story had me in stitches the most so far. I can just see the cat's expression. :p

OUr first cat, a Siamese called Grainne did loads of stuff like that...
Whenever the tennis was on, she'd follow the ball with her eyes, and when the snooker was on, she'd try and catch the white ball! :)
The best one was, when the old priest came round to see my parents. Grainne was curled up in a fluffball on the sofa, but old Fr Anthony's sight wasn't that good, and before he could be warned, he sat on what he thought was a fluffy cushion...
Grainne leapt about 2 metres in the air, and on her way down managed to give the priest a quick bite on the top of his bald head.
Needless to say he didn't make any home visits after that.:D
