Hi, everyone!

I know it's been a while since I've been on, but I found a stone today, and the woman at the shop only knew its name, its element, and its energy, and I figured that someone here should have the answers to my questions, or at least know where else i might look to find them. It's called Stramatolite, its element is earth, and it's a receptive stone. I've done a little digging on-line (the woman I bought it from doesn't have a computer, so could only reference books, and none of the ones in her library mentioned it), and found a bit more on it. So far, I've managed to discover that's it contains fossilized blue-algae (the first known photosynthetic organism on Earth). One site I found says that it's good for past-life meditation, relieving physical and emotional stress, "reestablishing the flow of body fluids that have become heavy, blocked, or dried," and that it "massages the chakras." Another site says that it's good for improving vision, clearing the throat, use as a general tonic, physical well being, fortifying the aura, and that it strengthens teeth. The others I've found all speak of its history, geologically speaking.

All this is great, but I am having trouble figuring out if my sources are reliable, as both sites that had magickal information on it are on line stores that carry it, which tends to create biases. I was wondering if anyone had any books that have any info on it (and, if so, and he or she could post the ISBN for me, I would greatly appreciate it!) or had done any work with it first-hand. If someone has a reputable website they can refer me to, that would be awesome, as well.

The web sites I have looked at are:

http://www.shamanscrystal.co.uk/Shamanscrystal.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Shama nsCrystals/Products/TS01Str

http://www.awesomeuniverse.com/crystals.htm#stramatolite

(those above containing Magickal info, and those below containing mostly scientific info)

http://encyclopedia.farlex.com/Stramatolite

http://pub48.bravenet.com/forum/4111104718/fetch/511529/

The books that don't list it are:

Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham

The Chrystal Bible by Judy Hall

Crystal Power, Crystal Healing by Michael Geinger

Love is in the Earth by Melody

Thanks, guys! :spinnysmi

It was touched on a bit a few days ago... here is the link.

I think the reason most books do not touch on it is because they fall into the fossil category so are touched on under that name... as mentioned in the other thread most people feel that when working with fossils the older the fossil the deeper and farther back the regression work (passed life meditations) can go. In regards to healing anything pertaining to bones would fall under its influences.

Hey, thanks! I only scanned the other post topics before I put mine up, so I must've missed it.

Anyone know of any books involving fossils? Because my info on the magickal properties doesn't overlap from one site to the next (one says "Other sources say," but is neutral about it, so i'm not sure if that counts), I was hoping to find a third source that might give me some overlapping info. (there are other sites that I found, but as often happens on the web, they quote the first two I found...or perhaps the first two quoted them? But without giving creadit to the origonal source, so i'm not sure where it came from to begin with!)

Books totally focusing on fossils or books which mention fossils? If your looking for books mentioning fossils and their properties then most if not all of the metaphysical books out there touch on them including melody.

I have a couple books that mention fossils. I was hoping to find one that might mention this one, specifically. Anything that lists the unique/rarer pieces would be awesome, though...

I think you may be hard pressed to find specific info on the metaphysical properties of Stramatolites in books seeing they are not that common and also because there are so many different types of fossils that to list metaphysical properties for all would involve volumes. I know some have focused some info on a few of the more common fossils but info is vague as far as I know.

My personal view on this topic is that any fossil bone which came from prior to homosapien existence all fall into the same grouping as far as metaphysical properties.. the only variation would be that the older the fossil the farther back one could travel. Bones and/or fossils found after homosapiens appeared and within homosapien sites or found to have been in contact with homosapiens allow us to see how homosapiens interacted with that specific species on all levels as well as their environment.

I know of several others who connect to this view but it is a personal one so I encourage everyone to discover their own paths in this regard.

Do you mean stromatolite?? The different spelling might give you more options in a search engine.....

There's a colony of 'live' stromatolites here in Western Australia, at a place called Shark Bay. Awesome lil' buggers, really...
