Last Sunday my son Bryant called me from work and asked me to bring some dog food to the Community Center where he works as a program co-ordinator. A little Jack Russell Terrier was there and he was dirty, a little beat up from a fight, and his poor little feet pads were all sore and bleeding. I took the food and told Bryant that we'd try to find a home for him if he was there when he got off work, but he said it was OK, one of the people from the church that meets there said he would take him home if he was still there when church let out. Bryant fed the pup and got him a box and blanket ( people leave everything at the center) so he ate and went right to sleep in the box. When church let out the man took him home and we figured we did good........Yesterday, I stopped at a stop sign and there was the little dogs picture on a flyer. I got the no. off the flyer and called Bryant at work and gave him the no. off of it. He called the church office and got the no. of the man who adopted the little dog and called the owner of the dog who said she'd been out all day long putting up those flyers. The dogs name was Ty and he got lost from our Living History Park on July 5. She called the man and described the dog and told him his name........The guy said his heart sank when he said his name and his liitle head flew around so fast he thought he would get whiplash........ They agreed to meet last night at the Community Center so she could get her dog. When she got there the man sat down Ty and his owner called him....Bryant said Ty looked at the guy for a second and turned and ran into his owners arms for just a second....... then ran to the 18 month old baby who was jumping up and down yelling Ty!Ty! Ty!Ty!.........seems they were constant companions and the baby couldn't be consoled .......So twice we did A Very Good Thing!!!!!!

That is so unselfish of your son's friend - must have been upsetting for him too...

But I'm glad the dog was reunited with his former owners...

:) That's a great story, OW. I'm glad Ty's owners found him (they must have been sooo relieved!)

Is it me or am I just a sap? I had tears in my eyes reading this.

I would be devastated if anything happened to my dog. When we got our dog, a rescue from the shelter, she was 7 months or so old. The first few days we were so nervous and didn't want to get to close to her, in case the shelter called us back to say an owner was found. But no one did and we still have our baby. :)

OW, that was really sweet of you and your son (you raised him well!) and you did a great thing!

Truely a nice thing you all did: Ty's family for looking and caring, you and your son for saving and comforting Ty, the man from your church who offered a home in need to a furry friend. And Ty's faithful heart for his very young companion. :)

I love good news!
But I feel a little sorry for the man who offered the dog a home.
Surely he feels good though that he was able to help unite the family.:)
