A lot of Christians seem to believe that unifying the Christian church will come during the apocolypse (spelling). So I was wondering since there are literately thousands of Protestant denominations, do you ever think the Protestant religion can ever become united as one. I know the Catholic church is a bit split but not nearly as much as the protestants.
In Protestantism, there's denominations that other protestant don't see as protestant or Christian.
Of course the Christopagan/Gnostic crowd will always be on the outside of both Christian churches but do you think the Gnostic community can unite the Christian church.

If all the Christian denominations actually united, I'd move to the Vatican and become a nun. There are just far, far too many things working against that for it to actually happen. The main thing being that denominations were created because someone believed that the other people were doing it wrong, mostly in fundamental ways (eg. sola fide) .

I don't think anything can unite the Christian Church as it is now. Everyone just holds on to their own opinions and rules regarding their religion... and I don't think they can ever revert back to seeing what they have in common rather than paying attention to all of their differences.

the question is though... why would you want them to unite?
I mean diversity in thought is a good thing isnt it? Would anyone want all wiccans or all Pagans to unite? I dont think people would want that.

It is a good thing, however it seems to cause a lot of conflict in the Christian community. So much so there's been wars fought over it and major riots. And tons of cults created.

Why, however, do you believe this to be a good thing? Just curious. ;)

The Christian church never was united and I doubt that it ever will be. The same holds true for virtually all religions including Paganism. I don't think it is a bad thing, it is just human nature. Even if there was one all embracing religion, everyone would practice it in their own way.

well, i think it would be good for Christians to agree to disagree agreeably on their own matters of opinion, while recognizing what they do have in common. at least respecting each other as being in Christ.
(of course all people should be respected regardless. doesn't mean you agree with everything they believe and do.)

I agree with you, diversity is a good thing, and I don't think all the different Christian denominations uniting would be good, it would just stagnate, I personally think the diversity of beliefs is what makes Christianity quite a cool religion, and their mythology too (I particularly like learning about Catholic mythology).

Last time there was a (pretty much) united Christian church we got the dark ages, also the schism between the Catholic/Orthodox and protestant schools of Christianity is I think far to great for them to really be reconciled, not to mention some of the really far out protestant groups like the Mormons and Jehovas Witnesses.

I think people may fear uniting the churches due to fear of the apocolypse (which may saddly weaken prospects of peace among people.)

Yeah, it could be scary. I believe that there will be some Christians left in a post world war era. It will happen after the former Babylonian empire unites.
That would be now the countries of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Georgia, and Russia.
It puts Russia's push into Georgia, and Russia's push for a New World Order into perspective.
