Wikipedia (not the most reliable of sources, I know) says:
The Well of Wyrd feeds the taproot of Yggdrasil the World Tree. It is guarded and tended by the three Norn, who dwell in a hall by the well. It is said that they scry the Bindrunes of Fate in the Well and carve them onto the living trunk of Yggdrasil.
Are the "bindrunes of fate" supposed to be specific bind runes, or general ones which they make up as they go?
That doesn't make much sense does it? :bigredblu hopefully someone will know what I mean...

No where in Norse literature that I am aware of (and I have been Heathen for 20 years) are "bindrunes of fate" mentioned, nor is it said that they carve runes on the tree. The actual textsin the Norse literature mentioned in relation to the Norns are as follows:
According to the Prose Edda:
Ask veit ek ausinn, Heitir Yggdrasil,
Hárr baðmr heilagr, Hvíta-auri;
Þaðan koma döggvar, Es í dala falla;
Stendr æ yfir gronn Urðarbrunni. An ash I wit standing Called Yggdrasil,
A high holy tree Sprinkled with white clay,
Thence come the dews That in the dales fall;
Stands it always ever green Over Wyrd's Well.
(Gylfaginning 16, Prose Edda)
And the Elder Edda:
Þaðan koma meyiar, margs vitandi,
þrár, ór þeim sæ, er und þolli strendr;
Urð héto eina, aðra Verðandi
--scáro scíði--, Skuld ina þriðio;
þær lög löumlgðo, þær líf kuro
alda bornom, ørlög seggia
Thence come the maidens, Mighty in wisdom,
Three from the place, Under the tree,
Wyrd "Wyrd" is called one, Another Werðende
Scored they on wood, Scyld is the third;
There Laws they laid, There life chose,
To men's sons, And spoke orlay (Völuspa 20-25)
There are other briefer things said about them, and all the Norns in general, but these two are the most important that relate to the greater Norns in regards to Yggdrasil.

Perhaps it has been inferred from the "Scored they on wood"?
(edit: either way, I think that means pretty conclusively they aren't specific bindrunes then!!)

I've been studying runes for a few years, and while I learn something new on a regular basis, I've never run across anything about Bindrunes of Fate... nor even Bindrunes of Wyrd ("fate" being a sorta non-Heathen thang)... although the latter concept does conjure a thing or two in my feverish head... :hehehehe:

As one who has taught , and practiced the Faery Tradition ,
and Runa Mgieck , for many years...yes , they are very
specific bindrunes...not only does it add up in the code system ,
and make sense by the meaning , but I have used it to bind
others , extremely effectively , and successfully...
Even some here , onsite...with no harm intended...just self
defense...now...if you want to know what they are...
They are on my class sheets...as the dual eight columns...
Then , surround them , with "Is" , or "Isa" runes...
As in our Tradition , the "Is" , or "Isa" rune , may act as a
"fixative" , whether in alchemy , mgieck , or the universe ,
itself...
Use the spellrunes most carefully , as they work...
( Except against one , who knows the counterspell ,
of course...blessings...)
P.S. One does not have to be "heathen" to know the runes...
I am of the Faery...We knew them long before humans...

Um... yeah... moving right along.
I've never heard of such runes. Granted, I'm not an expert on runes, but I know plenty who are and they've never mentioned any such thing. Bindrunes? Yes. Bindrunes of Fate? Uh, no. Then again I'm of the mindset to believe that all we do is part of fate, so wouldn't Bindrunes of Fate be rather redundant? [head scratch]

never heard of them, reminds me of the ever elusive "troll runes"

"Troll-runes", simply put, are any runes (whether singly or in a charm, bind, or formula) used to cause woe.
