This crap steams me!
I see a lot of reports out here, in our HOT AS CRAP environment of someone leaving their child, in this case a 16 month old infant, locked in a hot car!! The Fire Dept had to break a window to get to the child. The mother is pending abuse charges for leaving her infant in a car while she went into the store. It can get very hot very fast in a locked car out here, I have even slow cooked a roast on my dashboard while at work.
I think people who leave children and pets in a car like that should get a tasste of it themselves!!
Sorry ... just venting another PET PEEVE!!!!!!!!!

Oh Blue, how awful...is the child okay? Please say it wasn't in Phoenix...gods it was hot today... You are not the only one who would like to let these idiots feel the effects of their stupidity. I cannot even believe anyone would be that dumb or cruel.

No, it was in Albuquerque, it ONLY got to 95 today, but inside of a car that 95 quickly becomes well over 140!
Yes, the child is okay, the FD got it out in time.

I saw a story like that on the news last week, except it was the father that "forgot" the child was in the car and he thought he had rolled the window down.
:flamer: Ugh!

*snarls* this angers me greately!!
I heard a story the other day. . . in the newspaper, my mum told me about it. . .
Someone left her infant and her 2year old son in the car, in over 100-degree weather, with the windows up, while she went to have her hair done.
They both died. The two-year-old had gotten his brother his bottle, had tried to make his brother more comfortable, and how he had clawed at the window. They both died with their little faces pressed up at the top of the window, gasping for air. . .
it sickens me. I heard again, of how a woman forgot her baby was in the backseat and went grocery shopping, and she died. . . how in the seven hells do you "forget" you have a baby in your car. . . ESPECIALLY with all the warnings going on???? what kind of a moron. . . . *sighs angrilly* *shakes her head*

Just happened here a few weeks ago.........Mother took 2 older kids in store with her.....Left baby in car because iit was sleeping and "she needed a nap"..............People saw baby and broke window , got baby out of car, called police, and when this woman got back to her car. sheriffs were waiting for her. DFS took custody of children on the spot.......Trial has already been held.......6 days in Jail........1 yr. probation, 120 hrs. community service...........BTW, the baby is fine.....It hadn't been in car very long, person thought it was dead but it was still napping, and it was still cool in car, but it was 30 minutes before the Mother got back to the car on a 100 degree day in Ga!!! And get this..........the mother is a nurse!!!!!!!

We sadly enough get what seems like a lot of those cases here in Tucson. In the summer, the temp hovers around like, 104 degrees too!! People just think "oh it'll only take 10 minutes." and they don't realize how hot a car can get. It's absolutely awful that people would leave their babies or their pets in practically an oven. It's like cooking them alive...
:( It's a pet peeve of mine too, blue.

Puma,
I heard that story on the news as well. the real kicker is that this "mother" is pregnant again as we speak. Why oh why are ignorant people given such gifts to throw away? I will never understand that.
A couple of years ago a man here left his infant in the car all day while he was at work. The infant died. It is a terrible story but the man got off without jail time and I am personally glad. His story was a little different. He didn't normally take the child to daycare, his wife did and for some reason he was doing it. He had an extremely high stress job and was running late and honestly forgot to drop the child off. He didn't realise his mistake until time to go home for the day. I think the punishment he lives with each day is far worse than any jail could ever offer.

Even worse - about two years ago here there was a very stressed foster mother who took all the kids grocery shopping and forgot to bring an infant that had just been placed with her in with the rest of the kids and the groceries. He died. As in the case of the dad that Semele mentioned, she was one of our best foster moms and while this was an incredibly stupid mistake, she must live with it for the rest of her life.
What irritates me even more is that on our local news you hear more about the dangers of leaving your pets in the car than you do about leaving your kids in the car!
