Do certain colors pop out at you when you are looking at the cards? What does it mean? Take a look:




White - New ventures and beginnings in love and business. Purity, Purity of intention, inner wisdom.

Black - Letting go, the unknown, old sorrows, regrets or guilt. Possibly problems with older people, Black is also universally associated with strength.

Brown - Practical issues, the home and family, the earth, grounding, application, implementation and production.

Pink - Reconciliation, friendship and health (Though seldom used in tarot cards)

Red - Fertility, Love, survival issues, passion and power. Love, lust and trusting ones feelings.

Orange - Identity issues, energy, vitality, spontaneity, life force, personal happiness, partnerships - whether at work or at home.

Yellow - Spirituality, communication, undeveloped potential, career and travel.

Green - Creativity, regeneration, fertility and productivity, matters of the heart, romance and family.

Blue - Wisdom and clarity. Learning and examinations, interviews and matters of principle.

Purple - Leadership and personal power. Wisdom, the soul and spirituality, religious insights of any kind. The colour of Royalty.

Silver - (Though seldom used in tarot) Dreams, special wishes and major life changes.

Gold - (Though seldom used in tarot) Translating life changing plans into reality.

There are colour assosiations in the Tarot Companion if I remember correctly (I still havent had a chance to have a good read of that wonderful book.."soon" she says..)

I often take into account what colours are in my readings ~ often it shows me more whats the querrant is like, wants and expects in life ~ If you do a regular Celtic Cross then just use the colours for the interpretations some interesting issues come up! :D Just like colour therapy!

I totally agree with your explanations and here are some others which I use for tarot and for candle magic
(I cant remember where I got it from though... so please excuse me for not naming the author)


· White – innocence, generosity, truth, wholeness, respect, spiritual blessings, purity, healing, rest
· Light blue -- peace, harmony, joy, kindly intentions
· Dark blue – fidelity, truth, wisdom, serenity, tranquillity, devotion, loyalty
· Green – abundance, ambition, fertility, money, luck, business, steady work, good crops, success
· Yellow -- devotion, prayer, money (gold), cheerfulness, attraction, inspiration, success, action, concentration
· Red -- love, affection, passion, sex, bodily vigour, courage, energy, strength, health
· Pink -- attraction, romance, love, honour, leadership, femininity, clean living, unselfishness
· Purple -- mastery, power, ambition, control, command, dignity, idealism, independence, pride, wisdom, protection, psychic ability
· Orange – attraction, intellect, stimulation, friendship, joy, organisation, change of plans, opening the way, prophetic dreams
· Brown – animal health and healing, study, court cases, neutrality, earthiness, telepathic powers
· Black – repelling energy, sorrow, freedom from evil, reverse or return, protection, repelling negativity
