I have samples of both.... Keep in mind both are mainly comprised of natural forms of natural asbestos.. blue is also referred to as Hawk's or Falcon's eye and red is referred to as Cherry tiger's eye. When it is referred to as cherry it is more often than not a manmade heat treated form of Tiger's eye.... Some also refer to Tiger Iron as red tiger's eye seeing it contains hematite... this variety is natural.

I usually refer to tiger iron as a completely different stone than tiger's eye. tiger iron was also called mugglestone and quite recently (because of the last name) picked up the name of Harry Potter stone.

actually this is the first time I ever heard of people thinking tiger iron and tiger's eye are the same.:ggrief:

I always thought tiger iron was a bit darker and had less of a "stripe" to it.
I have a very small red tiger eye and a nice blue one :)

Tiger iron usually always has layers one of which is tigers eye another being hematite and the third being..... errrr.... jasper. It takes the three pieces to create the tiger iron effect. When you tumble it with just the jasper and the tiger eye present that is what they refer to as red tigers eye... at least so I am told.

yup.. red tigers eye is sometimes referred to as cherry tigers eye... that is the stuff which is usually heat treated.... one of the bad things about the different communities which work with stones and minerals on different levels is that they tend to create their own names for specimens which they are attracted to... examples of this are countless and tend to confuse things at best.... I tend to shy away from most of them and stick with recognised scientific names and terms with the odd exception of course. In regards to Tigers eye I use the term Tigers eye for the gold/yellow stuff and Hawks or Falcons eye for the blue stuff. Tiger Iron for me is a different beast as it contains 2 different minerals (jasper and hematite) along with the tigers eye element (asbestos) and to equate it to a form of tigers eye in the metaphysical community, to me, does not do it justice. Red tigers eye to me does not exist seeing it is a manmade product and most of you know how I feel about those :) but it was brought up here so I thought I would help confuse ERRRRRRR... clarify things a bit :weirdsmil

the same thing is with herbs. A good example is foxglove. other names it goes by are cow-flop, deadmen's bells, dog's fingers, fairy fingers, fairy weed, and still more.

I like red tiger's eye-even if it is heat treated tiger's eye, it seems to do a lot for me, with chakra work and healing.

that's not surprising for me to hear. other heat treated stones work with other people. i would be happy to hear in detail of what sort of chakra work and healing you did with it.

Like Lightdragon I also dont find it surprising as I know of LOTS of people who find working with manmade citrine one of the most powerful stones to work with. It's just a personal prejudice of mine when it comes to these items and my working with them and I readily admit that I should try more to connect with them which I do do from time to time.... with little or no success (which is probably due to my prejudice against them and not because of the stones themselves) I do however love to hear peoples stories when it comes to working with them and like Lightdragon would love to hear yours if/when you feel like sharing :). For me it is a real learning experience when I hear people speak about working with manmade stones.

I will-I have to get it orgainized in my mind..lol just getting out of a cold and been sick for a couple days, still not completley well and focused.
But a short version: Mostly issues with grounding, letting go of old issues so I can ground other ways then eating, dealing with flight or fight issues, that sort of thing.
Its a stone that calls to me, visually as well as emotionally, I have quite a few peices, I actually like it better than tiger's eye.
But I like Tiger Iron, I just have to get a few pieces (on my list)

Its funny you mention citrine- I have one man enhanced (I think of them that way since techincally they are not totally man made like some kinds of "stones" rather, they are still stones that come from the earth) but I like to use citrine natural more than man ehanced.
However I dont mind man enhanced when working with Howlite, Red Tigers eye and some other stones like some of the quartz enhanced stones.
I am funny that way:hehehehe:
