Communication with Higher self ((question))

i'm really curious as to how i can pull this off, if anyone has any tips please let me know because as of late i have been meditating and talking to the darkness hoping it'll answer ...
so far the only communication i've had with him have been random visions where he was whispering in a language i cant understand, but the visions themselves weren't very nice, but they did happen
so i guess that was a heads-up?

does anyone know how i can start the conversation instead?

Hi there, Rookie143. I've asked an administrator to move this thread over to New Pagans where I think it might get more response.

What I'm concerned about here is whether you're really talking to your higher self. What makes you feel this is indeed your higher self rather than just a problematic spirit or something else? There are specific methods for coming in contact with your "Higher Guardian Angel", I'm wondering what methods you're using exactly. Meditating isn't a bad way to open some space for communication, but at least personally I get more general impressions and understandings that way, not a specific person talking. I'm wondering what the experience for others here is too.

This line gives me the gut reaction that this is not your higher self you're seeing. Since your Higher Self is part of yourself, the experience shouldn't be unpleasant. Just my opinion... I don't have experience with this, but I had a very strong physical sensation when I read those words, so I felt I had to share.

Im not familiar with "the higher self", but would that be the unconscious? If so, I know mantras are one way.

Higher Self=God Self and does not equal scary visions. JMO, however.

Do a meditation...ask your Higher Self a question and listen for the answer. Most likely, you're NOT going to hear a voice. But, you will see images or be drawn to things that ARE your answer.
You can also ask that your lower self, you and higher self be in alignment each morning. It's a good way to start your day.

Hmm...~thinks a bit~ Not nice as an experiance, hmm? Well, I must say, that doesnt sound like anything you should be trying again just yet, now does it? ~nods gently~...hmm...I think, if I could offer anything it would be to wait on trying that again. Magic, spells, the talking to one's guardian, higher self, whatever one wants to call techniques that bring one into contact with what has lain dormant, is in a way, like swimming. You know, paddling about in a pool?You dont go diving into the water without a few lessons! Well, not unless you rather like getting hauled out (sputtering and feeling chagrined) by a lifeguard or two!~warm laugh~ Now, no fear is needed in beginning to feel out the high self/spirit guide, this should be, and can be, a pleasant journey. But just as swimming can be fun, it can also inspire overconfidance in some.

I hope I dont insult you by asking these questions, remember, I have no idea as to your path, or beliefs.....but what have you read, in terms of the occult? What do you draw from, as a knowledge base? Do you embrace a path, or are you still trying it out, and seeing what fits? I ask not to condemn or belittle, only to better offer us all a frame on which to further offer advise or perspective.

far as i can tell it was just a heads-up.
i have no idea why any other spirit would want to warn me of something that would only be important to show me unless they knew that would impact me.
the vision was very specific.
