Stupid Question

What are the straight lines in the center of the astro chart, and the significance of their widths and colours (red, green, blue)? Are these showing the aspects? I notice a short red mark from one line to the next in spots, particularly in my chart between Jupiter and Mars and the sun and Mercury, are these conjunctions with a big orb?

yep, the widths show how closely they are to exact, thicker meaning closer, and the colors indicate the kind of aspect, blue are trines and sextiles, red are squares and opps, and greens are the odd aspects like quincunxes and such

Aren't, say, squares and opps very energetically different though? How could I tell which it is? Why would they use the same colour for both?
