Would you help contribute to a college scholarship only open to Pagan students? I'm considering starting one when I get my tax refunds this year, and I'd just like to see if others would be inclined to help fund it?

If a scholarship like this were available, and you were unsure if you wanted to help fund it, what type of information would you be looking for to help you make up your mind?

I think that before I donate ANYTHING, I like to have as much info as possible to make that decision with. In the case of a scholarship, I'd like to know what criteria the student needs to meet to get it (grades? ACT/SAT scores? Pagan him/herself? With pagan parents? Community service requirements? etc). I'd also know is it a one-time offer, or does the student get help every year or semester? Is it open to any major/area of studies? Will the donation be tax deductible? Who chooses from all the applications--an individual? Or a committee? What are their qualifications for choosing?

It seems like a ton of questions, but I think that all of this needs to be established so that everyone knows that the scholarship is functional and meets their standards before giving out hard-earned money.

Thanks! That's the type of feedback I'm looking for!

I was thinking a long those sames lines too. Would it being tax-deductible, or non-deductible have an influence on if you would give, or how much you would give?

What type of qualifications would you like to see in a committee?

My personal ideas would be for a one time scholarship, for a pagan student, based on review of an essay, and perhaps grades.

I don't think it would make a big difference to me personally, but having the option might sway some others, both because of the savings and because it makes the organization seem more official.

As for a committee, I think I'd like for it to be made up of a mixture of people who do a lot of work within the Pagan community and those who have strong academic backgrounds.

Personally I d like to see more money for kids who don't get the best grades.
