It varies a lot over here. Cleansing myself is something I usually do when I take a shower, because then I visualise all the "bad" stuff I've picked up on being washed away along with the water. Cleansing a room is something I do with either incense or sage as companions... thought alone would work as well, but then it takes much longer.

The best advice I can give...isnt even MINE! lol..go to the CoT classes, and look for Shalaye's class notes. She gives the best ideas, is a great writer, and its well thought out.

If you're cleaning a room or space... or maybe a person (though I've never used it for that purpose), try burning some sage. It's good stuff, great at cleansing.

I :heartthro sage.

While you're burning it, visualize what it is you're looking to accomplish. I often combine cleansing and protection (shielding, if you will). Perhaps visualize the smoke neutralizing whatever it is you're trying to clean off... think of it as metaphysical Febreeze.

I just say "Clean". Get a broom and a dustpan and a mop and a vaccuum and some windex and some soft scrub and some tidy bowl. Move all that furniture you usually clean around and get underneath it. Get the cobwebs out of the corners. Scrub the doorframes. And above all stir up and flush out all the stagnant energy that's been sitting under your couches and in your corners and around your doors and just building up.

That alone does way more for my feeling in a space than any amount of sage. Takes more energy too, though, to grab a sponge than a smudge stick and a lighter.

What are you wanting to cleanse?
Yourself? A room? An religious object (altar, tools, etc)?

Bathing could work for yourself-- shower or bath.
Water in general is seen as purifying and cleansing.
Salt too. (Kemetic Orthodoxy uses salt in Natron to cleanse, for example).
There's also fire and smudging (as fire is also purifying).
There's also mental (thinking, visualizing) and verbal (a chant, spell, etc).

Hey now, I go off of the impression that anybody would already have done that!

I mean, who would try to spiritually cleanse a physically dirty place?

oops. sorry. i should have made it clear. Im trying to cleanse a space thats really badly "jinxed" for lack of better word. This is a place very close to wear i live and alot of bad things have happend in this place. I dont feel safe around it and i dont want anyone to get hurt again. Considering all the bad things have happend to many times to be coincidence i want to try preforming a cleansing to see if it will help.

Hmm...some things to think about...is it your calling to cleanse this place? What is your relationship to it? The fact that you don't feel safe does not mean this is not a safe place for others, you might want to examine this a bit deeper.

I don't know what your understanding behind such things are, your philosophies on how and why things take place. Is it an outdoor place?

Some paths would teach that people choose, consciously or un, to come to such an energy point because they need to confront something for themselves. So this energy point may be something you shouldn't mess with. Or, you might feel that your calling is to confront this point in this way.

Here is an option, get a glass bottle, charge it with the purpose of collecting a certain type of energy. Place symbols in or on the bottle and leave it at the site for a set amount of time. Return and stopper the bottle, then remove it to another site. If you have a body of water near by, take the bottle there, unstopper it and wash it out in the water, sending the energies on to find fresh productive ways of expressing themselves. The elements will do the rest. Thank the bottle and recycle it. Energy readily changes form, so don't worry about sending "bad" energy into the water.

hope that helps

Ooh, that makes it tricky. Do you own this place? If not, is it public? If no and no, do you have permission from the owner to enter the place?

If no, no, and no, you may want to reconsider your plans. It'd suck to try to help people and get picked up for trespassing or breaking and entering in the middle of your cleansing ritual. And it wouldn't play well in the press, either....

You'd be surprised. :p
