WORLD YOUTH DAY.. :sick:

300,000 catholic youth in Toronto to pray and whatever else... for a WHOLE WEEK! PLEASE SAVE ME! oh yes, and the pope is coming too.. :rolleyes:

Oh well, at least they wont be taking up the bar space ;)

...not to mention. i think its all a big ploy to get youth involved in the church cuz they are running out of money as the boomers age... ;)

When I was a young Catholic child, I was asked to go to one of those World Youth Days. It was held in NYC at Yankee Stadium and you actually had to have a special invitation to go. I remember what an honor it was to be asked. I was a CCD teacher (stop the collective laughter now people!) and was very active in our local Catholic elementary school even though I didn't go there--my father was their basketball coach. So it was a shock when me, a public school kid was invited to go along!

It was kind of a cool experience in that I got to meet other kids from all over. It was on a school day then and all we cared about was getting out of class for the day! LOL

It was also kind of cool to go to Yankee Stadium and see it in a completely different context. Thousands of screaming kids and no famous baseball players--truly wierd.

Now, having said that----I also remember being all dressed up and hot as hell! Many schools were lucky enough not to dress up and go in short sleeves and such, but our group thought it would be disrespectful of the Pope, (like he was going to see us individually in a screaming crowd!). LOL


Shnen my love, all I can say is: HANG IN THERE! It will soon be over. Just keep a thought in your head of a bunch of bored teens trying to stay cool!!!

PS. Coincidentally, I believe that was when my love affair with the Yankees vanished! LOLOLOL
