astrological genealogy?

I just had an idea hit me. I have done genealogy for years now, and would love to have known these ancestors by more than a name, place and date. I don't know how far back I could get, and wouldn't usually have access to birth times, but I bet I could get an idea of what some of my family were like by trying to do a birth chart! ( Hmm.....sounds like an interesting way to begin another new business???????? :T )

Hi Lorrie,

Even without birthtimes, casting the scopes of our ancestors is fascinating. Simply knowing their Sunsigns is big, and also noticing that they may have lived during a Neptune/Uranus aspect, or the like can really help you know them better, and also learn historic astrology.

It is a deep and wide subject but it sounds like you are already very involved in it. Yes astrology can make such a huge difference to genealogy!

I have Astrolog (free astrology program you can Google and download) on my computer. One feature this gives me is the ability to pick a date in the past (or future), and pick a set of planets I wish to watch and then animate it. I can watch history unfold - astrologically. An astrologer friend of mine who is deeply interested in history (read Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View - by Richard Tarnas) has spent countless hours watching outer planets move through the centuries on astrolog.

I have astrolog too, but it tends to be a little over my head at times. Now that I am hanging out with all of you and learning basics and terms it is becoming easier to navigate though! I like the way it gives the interpretations, it helps you think in terms of this has this effect on this, and helped me learn the aspects easier that way. I wasted alot of ink until I found I could reverse the background! :fpraise:

This would definitely make for an interesting business! I've been working on my birthchart for a while, but I think I either did something wrong or the information I have is a little off because about 70% of it doesn't sound like me. Maybe I just need to interpret what they are trying to convey in a different way. Or maybe I'm just screwed because I'm born on a cusp.
