WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton's crushing losses in Maryland and Virginia highlight an erosion in what had been solid advantages among women, whites and older and working-class voters.

While this week's results can be explained by those states' relatively large numbers of blacks and well-educated residents who tend to be Barack Obama supporters her presidential campaign could be doomed if the trends continue.

I think she took it for granted that certain demographics (namely women) would support her because of her gender and because of her husband. What this trend is showing is that you can't really take it for granted that people will vote for you for those novel reasons. I mean, look at Giuliani and how he had all that name recognition, but it didn't do him much good in the end.

Well I am a woman and support her-it has nothing to do with her gender or her husband.

I agree. I don't support Hilary but I'm not a US citizen, so it doesn't matter. 8O
