Sewage workers report "Zombie" stalker in underground tunnels

It sounds like something out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

But staff at a sewage works have called in a ghostbuster because they are being stalked by a zombie-like figure who roams the underground tunnels.

Workers at Southern Water's treatment plant in Eastbourne, East Sussex, said they have been scared to enter tunnels after being followed about by a "humanoid figure" as they went about their jobs.

quite seriously, has this sewer manager never heard of the homeless? Also - tax dollars at work here. Municipal group requisitions permission to bring in someone who will go down into the sewers and proclaim "officially" that "This corner of this sewer is creepy as hell - and we all agree!"

I haven't read the article yet, but I'd love to see that, although, like Liberty, someone will need to bring a lot of firearms. Let's all go down together, heavily armed and fire at anything that moves (actually that's probably what I would do!).

As I kid I used to play in the sewers, started out in open sewers then worked my way into the system... I'd love to see a fellow sewage spellunker, even if they are zombie.

Unless Eastbourne's sewers are any different to the rest of the country they'll date from Roman times with the additin of some Victorian engineering and will not make a reasonable place to hang out even for the homeless!

Zombies, however, being dead, probably don't notice the smell very much? Fortunately I've been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on my PC lately so I migth be the guy to help you out!

I'd been reading about this last night, got the link from Fortean Times. There was an article in Fortean Times about an encounter in a Water Works in Canada I believe. That was within the last year I'm fairly certain. It was a tale that really got under my skin. You would have to log on there and search the archives, prob under Readers encounters or somethin like that.

I've been through the tunnels in Verdun but that place was too 'clamourous', I would like to go to visit the water-works where this is been reported as it seems it would be something very different and more personal.

(As kids we used to use large drains to crawl through under roads, we thought we were proper 'cavers' and it was all such fun. One day a huge bomb went off in one of those drains. We never played in drainage pipes ever again! LOL funny that, I'd not remembered that for years, yey, another good result from this link! :) )
