I distinctly remember saying this morning that I wanted my face wash to be back where I left it by the time I got home. I don't recall saying trash the apartment, throw out my food and toiletries, smash about $500 worth of monitors, carve sl*t in my door in large letters, urinate on the carpet and put the only cooking pot I own in the toilet.
I really don't know why I bother trying anymore. No matter how hard I try to make things work out they always end up getting worse. The only thing I have to look forward to is moving out of here. Thankfully that happens in three days. Not soon enough though.

I have a housemate. I'm never moving in with anyone again. Now I gotta sit around and wait for the police to get here.

Yikes! My first thought was to wonder if you had called the police. I hope they can make the roomie pay for the damages. And the damage deposit on the apartment as well. Better luck with your next living arrangement. :hugz:

The police weren't much help at all. They can't do an insurance claim because the property is rented. They're mailing me a booklet about an intervention order. They didn't even bother to turn up here. I got a call from them around midnight. I really wish they'd done more. I might have gotten a bit more sleep.

If the police won't come to you, then you go to the police, tell them you want to file a report, something you can show to the landlord so that you won't be responsible for the damages. Maybe even press charges against him yourself for damaging your property. But you may have to take the roomie to small claims court to get anything out of him/her.

Wow, suckness. Sounds like your housemate knows a few of the losers I used to room with.
Sorry you had a bad one. I've stopped having roommates too from shit like that. :hugz:

...whoa...
I thought *I* had a bad time of it when my bipolar roommate skipped her meds, stole my brand new cellphone (a 21st birthday present) and then sent prank texts to everyone in my phonebook saying awful things...
But yeah, your situation beats that.
Um. Is it safe for you to be staying there at all? I would be pretty scared if I was you. Can't you stay with a friend until you move out in 3 days?

The only friend I have to stay with has been working nights so I've been unable to stay with them. I'm not going to be stuck paying for the damage thankfully. The police apparantly can't do anything. Since they don't have any record of him doing anything violent they are refusing to do anything unless he shows up here agan. :(

If they don't let you file a report on him for this incident, then there still won't be a record the next time he goes nuts. They should help you to file a report so there will be a record the next time. Not something you have to do of course, but if you want to, they should be helping you.
