I'm so happy :T I've been having trouble finding a significator that truly represents myself. Well, this morning I finally found 1: Queen of Cups... I just had to share with someone who'd understand LOL Thanks!

 Another Queen of Cups here.

However, I don't usually use a significator in the readings I do. Since there is only one Queen of Cups in a deck, what if another empathic woman should need to be mentioned to the person I'm reading for?

Good for you :)

I'm a queen of swords gal myself.

Another Queen of Cups. :) most of the time anyway. Today I'm a bit more of a Knight of Pentacles.
Congrats on finding it!

Thanks! I only plan on using it for when others need a sig so that they can read for me.

I prefer the queen of swords myself but I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Meh... I'm all of 'em at varying times... Lately, I've been coming out more as the Queen of Wands. Which is kind of funny. By Western Astrology, I'm a Virgo, which would be Queen of Pentacles. But I've been exploring Vedic Astrology lately, which puts me as a Leo, Queen of Wands all over!

But... if they lay the Queen of Cups out first as representing you - then what if there is another person in your life who would best be represented by that card? It might be difficult to tell who the cards are trying to tell you about.

My daughter is like that. According to the Zodiac she would be a Virgo but she relates better to Libra and Libra seems to fit her better as well. I forget whether those would both be represented by the same suit in the tarot or by different ones.

Libra is air and so would be represented by either the Queen of Swords, or the Queen of Wands, depending on which suit you associate with air.

As far as using significators. I sort of do. I keep the significator of the person or question (I identify a question significator associated with each question) in mind, and if it shows up in the reading, it's important. I take special note of where it shows up, because this indicates where the person is focusing their energies.

Every person exhibits the energies of every card at varying levels at different times in their life. Sure, taking a significator takes one card out of the deck, but anyone that would have been represented by that card can just as easily be represented by another card. I, however, don't take the significator out, because the way I read finds significance in where the significator is.

Libra is Air (wands or swords), but what is Virgo?

... depends on where the significator falls in the reading...

Interesting idea. Tell me more?

Virgo is Earth, so Pentacles.

As far as where the significator falls, take the Celtic Cross as an example. I use the following positions for my Celtic Cross:

1) The Situation
2) The Crossing (What's causing the problem)
3) The Foundation
4) The Past
5) The Expectation
6) The Coming (What's happening in the near future)
7) The Self
8) The Others
9) The Hopes and Fears
10) The Outcome

Suppose that the significator falls in The Crossing. That could mean that in this particular sitation, the person getting the reading is the primary cause of all their own troubles. Self-sabotage, or poor decision making.

Or suppose that the significator falls in The Foundation. It could mean that they literally only have themselves for support at this time.

The Significator in The Past may indicate the person is feeling like they are being left behind by the situation or those around them.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

How do you decide what card signifies the querant?

If I know the person, I generally will choose based on their personality, which sometimes goes along with their Sun Sign card, and sometimes doesn't. For instance, my husband the Gemini, is a classic King of Swords - cold, withdrawn, analytical, sharp-tongued. I, the Virgo, am more a Queen of Cups than a Queen of Pentacles, and am evolving towards Queen of Wands.

If I don't know the person, I use their Sun Sign information to choose the significator.

Sometimes I find it more useful to use a question significator, especially when reading for myself. In such cases, I choose a card that I feel suits the question. Or if my querent is with me, I'll let them go through the deck and choose a card to represent the question. For instance, if someone wants to know about a new relationship, the Ace of Cups or the Two of Cups might be suitable. A relationship in trouble might be better represented by the Four of Cups (apathy) or the Three of Swords (heartbreak). Again, where this lands can be a good indication of how pressing the issue really is. Suppose it lands in the Past. Perhaps it indicates that this really isn't an important issue right now, and that the person is dwelling in the past a bit too much.
