So what do we want to do for the next contest?

Some Ideas I had for themes was
Deities
Spring
Holidays
Numbers
Foreign places
Historical times
Or picking out a picture off of a stock gallery and write what we see or what it inspires us to write. I think this was done once before but I cannot recall for sure how long ago...

So anyone else have ideas let me know and post them here :)

Since springtime is almost here, that could be a good one...all spring-related stuff.

There's also:
Haiku contest
Irish theme (for St. Patricks Day)
Ostara/Easter (could be associated with all things spring)

Thats all I got for now.

Ostara/Easter (could be associated with all things spring) That was what I was thinking when I put holidays and Spring.... Give people a bit of range of things to chose from.

I guess we could also try sonnets to, I have not written any since I was in high school.

Haiku's hehe that is another type I have not done in years :D

I think we have some ideas to last a few contests anyways :0

The Moulin Rouge

Make it dirty!:rollingla I would love to do something along that lines but remember MW has a rule regarding keeping it appropriate :)

OK how about writing from an object's point of view like say a pencil ( I have written a story in high school from the point of view from a pencil so that is where I got the idea from.)

I don't want this contest to be dirty... The challenge within my subject are the rules of this community. Make it kinky, dirty, sweet, erotic and whatever more, but keep it between the lines...

That's a real challenge... I've done it before, on another forum.

If you make it about The Moulin Rouge, I'll join in.

Sorry , Ravenseye , but that is boring , and limiting...

We are not in Poetry class...this is a poetry contest...

Just a subject...not an object , please......Hugz...

ok I was not sure if you were aware of the rule that is all :) And ya that sounds like a challenge.

You being the object a pencil apple, whatever is the subject... and in any case I am just putting up ideas here. If you think it is a boring idea , and it is used in a contest then it is your choice whether or not to take part. I am trying to avoid the same rut we got into with the last set of contests having the same type of subjects or themes and so on...:weirdsmil

Understood , RavensEye...and I was not here , for the previous
series , as far as I am aware...so perhaps you could tell me what
happened ? What subjects became a fixation ?

On the other hand...I want to participate...I just do not expect
high school limitations , of whatever form , on a MW poetry
contest...and we all should remember , respect , cursing , porn ,
and insulting another person , are seemingly the only restrictions ,
within the community rules , as far as poetry , unless I am sorely
mistaken...

As I am also a human / wolf / god / faery , I write poetry from
a perspective unique to that...never from the viewpoint of an object...

And my Divine Feminine says : "Do not objectify me , thank
you very much"...:rotfl:...

Thank you for hosting this , and trying hard to make it work...

But...if poetry is not inspired , and fun , based on freedom of
expression , the soul is constrained , and words do not flow...

And that , is the difference , between a poet...and a wordsmith...

The dance of the soul , through the words...:boing:

I taught my school's senior poetry class , in high school...

Teacher gave it to me...one young black gentleman , who claimed
he could not rhyme , or write poetry , hated me , because I pushed
him to...

One day , he came in with a poem...it began...

"Teacher Preacher Creature Feature"...and kept going from there ,
for a couple of pages...he got an "A"...:fpraise:

( So...now you know , who deserves the credit , for starting rap...)

...8O...

Thanks , again...we do have three , all thinking Erotic , and Spring...watta u think ?

I secretly knew it was you who was responsible for "I got ho's in different area codes" Shawn.

Springtime seems to be in order this time around...it's around the corner and also has a broad range for different interpretations. At least that's what I think. Then again I am not running this forum eh? :hahugh:

But...if poetry is not inspired , and fun , based on freedom of

Shawn, while I do agree with what you said here...it shouldn't be like that everytime. We should have broad subjects every now and again, but something specific can and will challenge the poet just as much if not more so. For example, there are many ways of looking at a pencil  It just takes some better imagining to see what is beyond face value.

RavensEye...do what you will :)
You'll expect an entry from me no matter what.

On the other hand...I want to participate...I just do not expect
high school limitations , of whatever form Well there will be restriction in one form or another here in these contests that is what they are for ,is to challenge people to write from a view they may not ever thought of doing before, or a type of poetry they have never done before...

As I am also a human / wolf / god / faery , I write poetry froma perspective unique to that...never from the viewpoint of an object... Well I have written from the view point of a waterfall, elementals and other things but at least I can challenge myself to try something different, such as the pencil and other things, giving them a life of thier own and what it may be like to be in their position. Like I said Shawn you do not have to participate in the contests that you feel are restricting to you.... these are for fun and who knows maybe they are to teach the writer something as well.

Thanks , again...we do have three , all thinking Erotic , and Spring...watta u think ? The spring theme yes as for erotic if you guys want to do that go ahead just let me know so I can set up the next Contest.

Wouldn't erotica be considered one aspect of Spring itself? Just a thought.

Wouldn't erotica be considered one aspect of Spring itself? Just a thought. Yes and that is how I thought it was being refered to here. But at the same time it could be something separate to... so as I said whatever the people decide I will abide by  :D

Shawn Blackwolf

One thing I would care to make clear...of course you shall decide what you want , RavensEye ( and you , Zyr )...

Here is just a return thought...does not need a response , unless
you care to...the Poetry contests I have entered , were open , not
with a specific subject , or boundaries...just the poem , on it's own
merit...have I written on a specific subject , would I ?

Of course...here we have Spring , and the Erotic aspect , a few of
us feel within it...I shall offer a piece up , for that cause...

( I never submit...:rotfl:...)...( not even Poetry ...8O...)

And just to say...no weirdness...merely a friend , letting you know
me...I have a very vivid , and fertile imagination...just no interest
in placing myself in those boundaries...also , being me...if I put
myself , in the essence of a pencil...as a mgieckal act...I might
feel dull......( or sharp )...you were asking for feedback , when you
first suggested that...I was just giving it...not trying to argue , at
all...Ize Likuns U......and what you are doing for everyone...

So...Spring , yes...with Erotic bend...sure...my vote is cast...

Watta U all say ?

Stormbeard

Shawn I am not sure how to response to this...

The Poetry Contests here in this forum ( for the 2 or so years that they were happening on a regular basis's and in the time I was a forum guide) had mostly had a theme or idea for it, but like this first one I tried to have it without and I think we can alternate between a theme and then not having one. And then as for trying the different types of poems I think that may also be fun to try ..

Thanks for explaining , RavensEye...for those of us new ,
since the last series , perhaps an introductory explanation
of how the contests were going to be structured , might
have prevented any missed understandings , or needless
discussion , regarding the suggestions made , concerning
the second contest , or those following...

We shall see how it all unfolds from here...no worries...

I was thinking of developing a FAQ for contests but I will have to wait and see.
And personally Shawn I did not find this discussion with you all that big of a deal.

And yes I forgot to add in my previous post that Spring will be used for the next contest...how you interpret it is up to you, meaning if you want to go the Erotic route all the power to you :hehehehe:
